The best authentic Mexican.. Carlos aims to please. If something is wrong he will do it over. All the recipes are from his wife. Family owned and run. A small place with great food! The best non- greasy Mexican food I have ever eaten!

Diamond in the rough. Exactly as the other 2 reviews state; Excellent entrees, excellent margaritas, and a basic no frills atmosphere. Absolutely the best authentic Mexican food!

Word of Mouth. Unlike Momocho, where I’m pretty sure they’d give you a glass to fart into so you could smell it, La Mesa in Concord is the quintessential no frill, down-home, neighborhood Mexican place that makes up for the lack of snobbery and hipness with some damned good Mexican food made by ‘gasp’ REAL Mexicans!Carlos, the owner, is usually on-hand to make sure you get great service, and will not hesitate to give you a Margarita that will knock you flat on your ass, plus they have Dos Equis on draft. There is a small patio outside to enjoy the warmer weather, and your down-home Mexican food. The menu is pretty extensive, but don’t expect anything ground-breaking. Sides are your standard rice, re-fried beans and Guacamole. It’s the entrees that stand out, and I recommend the Mochahete. If you’re in the area and looking for Mexican food, I highly recommend La Mesa.
