It’s always fun to experience the over-the-top Ruby experience! Started with cocktails and the Raw Bar. Huge shrimp, Crab legs and clams, accompanied by mustard sauce, cocktail sauce, horseradish and a vinaigrette. The crab legs were fabulous! Next a Freddie salad for me and Caeser for my hubby. On to entrees!! He had the strip and I had steak and lobster tail. Over the top!! Mac and cheese was excellent. Brussels sprouts good but a bit dried out. Excellent service!
Valentine Dinner at Carlo and Johnny February 14, 2015. Allow me to share with you our Valentine dinner experience. But first, let me state that my wife and I have dined at some very fine restaurants from New York to LA.It was a very cold wintery Saturday evening this February 14th. Our dinner reservation time was 8PM, and we arrived at Carlo and Johnny with two minutes to spare. Not realizing when we arrived, the valet service invisibly appeared and assisted my wife from the car up the stairs with an open door awaiting her arrival. Talk about VIP Wow. The foyer was crowded with anticipating dinners, and when I told the hostess my name and reservation time we were immediately escorted to our warm and comfortable booth. Jeff, a dinning assistant greeted us warmly and stated a Happy Valentine wish to my wife while providing our water. We were then greeted by Jordan Taylor. His greeting was warm and professional, Good Evening Ms. G, my name is Jordan Taylor, and I am her to provide you with an enjoyable evening. Mr. G, again, my name is Jordan Taylor, and Im here to make you evening most enjoyable too. Whatever dinning your wish, Ill provide it for you. The personal nuance of his introduction was personal and warm. Jordan Taylors support was beyond anything my wife and I have ever experienced. His suggestions for beverage, appetizer, entree and dessert was total perfection. If we thought about it, Jordan was there. The dining support staff was continuously there and available. Meanwhile, on multiple occasions, Charlie Bledsoe, Carlo and Johnny General Manager, could not have been more congenial and friendly. His warmth and desire to make sure our evening was total perfection. One of the hostesses came by to offer and then provide a Valentine Photo for my wifes Valentine Evening. And then, Jordan Taylor brought my wife a long stem red rose. Talk about over to top, weve never experienced such outstanding food with this level of service. While enjoying the last of our desert and sips of our coffee, Jordan Taylor queried what kind of vehicle I had and requested our parking ticket. Within minutes he came back to inform my wife and me, that our car was warmed and available when we were ready to leave. He personally requested to escort my wife to a warmed car. With doors opened for us both, and escorted by Jordan, from the restaurant to the foyer to our vehicle, you would think we were royalty. He even placed her remaining half of a very large steak, in a Jeff Ruby Take Home Bag in the back seat. With a good evening wishes from Charlie Bledsoe and our Personal Assistant, Jordan Taylor we could not have had a more enjoyable evening.When your desire a very special occasion and evening, we suggest Carlo and Johnny. Ask to meet Charlie Bledsoe, hell introduce himself anyhow. To top the evening off, see if Mr. Jordan Taylor is there and available. Slipping. This has been a favorite spot until lately when the service and food quality have really gotten worse. What used to be a special evening now feels like an evening at Outback. (No offense, Outback.) Jeff Ruby might need to retrain some staff to get the luster back. Until then spend your dime elsewhere.
Disappointed. My family and I were looking forward to celebrating the holidays with a wonderful dinning experience. In-stead we suffered through a very disappointing evening. The staff was unfriendly, the service was poor and the food and wine over priced.
Really Good & Worth The Price. I went to Carlo & Johnny on a Saturday night and it was really good.Their parking is vallet, and the ambiance of the restaraunt is really cool.They served fresh bread with truffle butter, and then we got Freddie Salads which tasted great.They have an extensvie wine list, and a large selection of prime steaks. We ordred a $50 bottle of wine, and I got the Cowboy Ribeye with the Collinsworth topping (crab, asperagus, and some other sauces). It was super good. My friend got a a fillet, and we ordered some sides to share. The boardwalk fries were just regular fries, and the portion was really small. We also got seafood rizotto, it was a large portion, but not very impressive. We had creme brule for dessert, and we both liked it.Overall, the bill came to $180. It was expensive, but worth the price because the steak was awesome and the service was great.
Tried & True. My 2nd favorite restaurant, only beat by the late and missed Jeff Ruby’s The Waterfront. Never disappointed, expectations always met. Great for birthdays, celebrations, date nights and anything in between.
My favorite restaurant in Cincinnati area. Food always excellent. Service always top notch.
