An improvement over the UD location. After attending a burger and beer pairing held by Smashburger and Great Lakes, my husband and I decided to give Smashburger another try. We’d been to the UD location before and weren’t impressed by the food, cleanliness, or service. The Dayton Mall store is SO much nicer in every way, and the food was great. The grilled chicken club is just as good as their burgers (no, really!), and I’m very hinky about grilled chicken. The breasts are pounded thin before cooking, which allows for faster cooking time and fewer texture issues for those of us who have them. The burgers are still great, too. They use super fresh ingredients, so even the salads are something to write home about. Now, if they could just get the Smash fries to come out a little less greasy, they’d be on a roll.

Yes, it’s a bit more pricey than the standard burger stand, but they have personality and are striving to build a reputation. The food definitely tastes great and this location is getting lots of business. This is a testimony to what can happen if you cater to the customer, and why so many search for non-chain style experiences. It’s David amongst all the Goliaths, but at the end of the day…………it’s a hamburger!

It’s clear the management team takes care of their staff, because happy staff = great service. And great service is what will keep me coming back every time I’m passing through the Dayton area.
The Best. These guys put everyone else to shame. Smashburger is better then 5 guys and any of the chains. Nice work!
Unhealthy eats. Probably the greasiest and unhealthiest place I have been to. Ironically, it’s right by a hospital. I had the chicken (dripping grease) and the fries. Fries tasted great, but I felt like I needed to start taking aspirin immediately after eating.
