Food was okay, but nothing I couldn’t easily produce at home with a much better atmosphere. The service was terrible. No wheelchair accessibility for my daughter, no one offered any assistance as I got her through the door (lifting the wheelchair), or even moving the crowded tables out of the way. Staff was cold. Probably the worst environment and service I have ever been given in a restaurant.

I have friends that have been going to Brotherton’s for years and even they agree that sometimes the service is slow. I have not eaten there in a while because every time I go, it is a running joke with friends that I am last to get served or my drinks refilled or replaced. I wait on average almost an hour to eat even when it is slow with few customers. I went last Thursday around 8 pm,place was near empty and was craving wings. Just as I was about to order, a server came out to tell our server that they were out of wings. If your resturaunt has a wing night, (which I asked if it was a special price that day and was told no, they just had alot of orders that night.) Wouldn’t it make sense to notice you are getting low on wings and make a 3 min trip to Kroger and get a few packs? But,I am a patient person and this is my first ever review of any kind and would not waste my time if it was trivial. As I tried to get comfertable in the original bench seats from the beginning of time which feel more like sitting in a old dirty ’57 Chevy in a junkyard, I looked through the menu. Yes prices are reasonable but when I ordered my ribeye,it was small,flat and round? Never had a round ribeye,probably came frozen and has been sitting in a freezer for who knows how long. The mixed vegetables were dry an bland. The sweet potato was good but it’s size made my cowpie steak look extra small. Yes the portions are large and what I would consider a waste scince most people leave half on their plate or take it home and leave it in a box until garbage night in which the racoons seem to enjoy the food very much. If you order something with barbecue sauce on the side, they give you half a bottle in a soup bowl, again wasted. If you ever order wings be sure to ask for light sauce or you will be drinking more of your wing than acually eating it. If you don’t pass out from hunger pains because of the 1 hour wait. I would not be suprised to see this place on Kitchen Nightmare’s someday.
BROTHERTON’S RESTAURANT. F for Service- F for QualityI= F++ for the Cooks! I first went to this restaurant using a JB Dollar Discount, it was great! I bought more JB Dollar Discount coupons and have gone back 4 more times. Each time I went back the food & the service got worse. Tonight broke the camel’s back! I ordered the 1/2 Slab Ribs & a baked potato. The Ribs were in 2 pieces & cold, the potato had no cheese or bacon on it. I complained that ribs were cold & the waitress was very kind and said she would have the cook grill them longer. When the ribs came back they were Hot Hot Hot and so was the plate. These had been microwaved. I waited & waited for the waitree to come back, my companions had finished eating. Finally the waitress came back & i explained that I do not eat microwave foods. We agreeded to replace the ribs & i would just take them home. In the to go box the cook put 1/2 the original microwaved ribs that I had been staing at on my table for the last 1/2 hour. I left them there & all of us will NEVER go back!!! I could go on & on with complaints. Don’t waiste your time or money on this place!!!!07 Feb, 2012Ms.. Went Sunday night for the first time. My friend ordered a Hot double Decker, it came cold. My other friend ordered a Double Burger, it came as a single. I ordered Ribs-Great! Aside from that the food was great. The waitress kept up on drink refills, the price was good. It is an older neighborhood restaurant and all that that implies. I would go back again.
Love it. The meals are cheap in price, but very good. I’ve been coming here for a long time since i was a kid. I’ve always been happy with what I got.
Overall – Blah. I enjoy going to local diners and trying something new. This one, however, did not live up to my expectations. We walked in and several tables were unoccupied although there were dishes on them so we circled the restaurant before finding a seat. I then ordered a Mt. Dew which came flat (the next one was better). The floor (carpeted) was very dirty with food, straw wrappers, etc. The food took nearly 30 minutes to arrive and we did not order anything ‘special’. I ordered a sub and asked for no tomato and when it came it had tomato on it.On the plus side, I did enjoy my sub and my son’s chicken fingers. My wife enjoyed her fish sandwich. Price was reasonable for that kind of venue.I would liken this place to the Red Foxx downtown on the corner of 6th and Sycamore (for those familar w/ Cincy).
