This is the worst Chinese restaurant we have even visited !!!. We learned that the original buffet spot had been changed to Hong Kong House and would like to visit it. Today, we went there and ordered some dishes. One of them was Lamb pot, but what we got was Chicken pot, instead !!! And one of the dishes was beef, but it was so cold inside the beef, outside was warm though. Obviously, it was not a freshly cooked dish! Be aware of this quality, that’s was our first but LAST time as well!

So delicious! We got the Gneral Tso’s with steamed rice, Orange Chicken spicy with Lo Mein, the crabmeat cream cheese wontons an scallion pancakes. Every bit of it was absolutely incredible! We had take out, it was still warm when we got home and the portions are huge! Will be returning!

Best Sichuan food in Cbus. The former head chef at Fortune came over this spring when Hong Kong Buffet converted to Hong Kong House. The real Sichuan dishes are even better than those he used to prepare at Fortune. Alas, the menu is all in Chinese. I’ve been there several times and have now translated the menu (with family & friends’ help) for those of us who know Chinese dishes but don’t read Chinese. Will post it, once I verify it with the restaurant.

Change not for the better. I hadn’t visited this restaurant in a few months and so was unaware that they no longer had a buffet. Although I had been looking forward to the buffet, we decided to give the new format a chance and were very disappointed. My shrimp dish and my friend’s vegetarian selection were both bland…as in had they no taste at all. My ice tea also tasted like nothing more than water…adding sweeteners didn’t help. The poor dining experience was reflected in the lack of customers. The dining room which used to be packed with remained mainly empty during our visit which was the height of dinner hour. It’s really sad to see what used to be such a great restaurant go so downhill.

There goes another good restaurant!. The Hong Kong Buffet was always known for their better food selections (for a buffet). We would drive from Westerville, bypassing all the other chinese buffets for the wide variety they offered. The service was good, and there always seemed to be a crowd of people at lunch and dinner times. That’s all gone now, only to be replaced by yet another Hunan House imitator. The food is good, but not worth the drive, nor the cash. Stop by the Pacific Eatery on Kenny Rd for the same food at 2/3 the price. I don’t know what caused the shift away from the buffet idea. Maybe it was some of the glutenous regulars. If it was money, maybe it would have been a better idea to simply do away with the side-order cook and wait-staff and install self-serve soda machines.

Bye-Bye Buffet. It was too good to last. Now re-opened as an overpriced mediocre Chinese restaurant.. When this place was Hong Kong Buffet, it was hard to believe what spectacular high quality food was served at such amazingly low prices. We could feed our kids for less than it would cost to purchase the ingredients at the grocery. It was clean (other than restrooms, which customers seemed to abuse), the decor was classy, and the service was superb and friendly. We went there quite often. Unfortunately, an all-you-can-eat buffet format is vulnerable to being taken over by morbidly obese people, and that is what happened. Toward the end of 2013 the clientele had become so disgusting that we actually stopped going there. The owners raised prices a couple of times but I suspect that they got tired of the situation as well. They shut the place down and converted it from a buffet to a sit-down restaurant. The renovations (which unfortunately did not include the restrooms) make the place darker. They have white tablecloths now. The crowds of waddling people are gone. The food is now overpriced: $13-15 for most basic entrees, served only with rice. Portions are good but the food was bland and swimming in oil. Nothing we tried was nearly as good as the former buffet food. Service was so-so: Tableware and napkins were piled in the center of the table; server had a hard time understanding English, soup was lukewarm and served without a spoon. The owners had to do something I guess, and I wish them well, but the bottom line for any restaurant is the food. If I’m going to do sitdown Chinese, there are a lot of better choices in the area.
