Walked in and was not greeted, waited for a long time and no one was in front of me. One employee was updating a sign and made eye contact with me 3 times and no acknowledgement. The other employee was preparing a coffee for another guest all the while talking to his friend constantly, no stopping, about a tv show, again, never letting me know he saw me or cared I was there. Finally I was asked if I needed help, so I ordered. He immediately went back into his extremely detailed convo with his friend about tv show. I had to interrupt him 2 times bc he didn’t hear me the first time, to ask where the restroom was. Not sure whether to sit or wait for my food at the counter I then had to try to get a word in edgewise during his story telling to ask. Quiche was cold. Filled with 50 percent potatoes but it was supposed to be 3 meat, no mention of potatoes on menu. Boring flavor. I ordered a cappuccino and was served a latte. Coffee was nothing special. GO TO DEEPER ROOTS a couple blocks away. The only reason Redtree gets 1.5 points is for location and local gifts. I’m very open minded and understanding when it comes twofold service and retail but this was a waste of my time and money. I hope others have a better experience
Adorable space with lots of potential. This hip shop is perfect for a cup of coffee and a lap top, ear buds, or quiet conversation. More Roomy than you would think. The local art and jewelry are pretty fantastic. If you are looking for a lunch spot- or a boisterous conversation.. I would not recommend. There are 3 sandwiches on the menu provided by Maribelle’s.. and the turkey muenster on pretzel bun which came reco’d was less than appetizing .. the tomato soup was pretty good though. If you only have 3 sandwiches on a menu- I’d think they’d be an incredible 3 sandwiches- that could be easily executed behind the counter. It doesn’t need to have high end fancy food, but the basics should be delicious enough that you want to go back, pay the extra price instead of going to your good old plenty o’ parking coffee joint. I will go back but likely not for lunch. Hopefully that will change ..
Coffee works with Artworks. Redtree has been a great place for me and the laptop for the last several months while enjoying great coffee, light breakfast, lunch and early supper. Redtree is up-to-date, attractive, clean, quiet. I’ve been to many coffee shops in Hyde Park, Oakley, and Mt. Lookout over the years. They’re all nice. The feature that makes Oakley’s Redtree extra-attractive to me is the artwork displays. They are comletely re-themed every month. Next month the artwork displayed will come from artists all around the world!Because Redtree is both a coffee shop and an art gallery, there’s always something new and interesting to see and to discover during breaks from my laptop. And, the people I’ve met at Redtree have been extra-interesting, tend to be creative, and are quietly friendly. For groups holding special off-site meetings, Wendy Smith, the owner, can rent out part or all of spacious Redtree. If you enjoy beautiful things and want a release from cabin fever, visit Redtree.
The perfect hot spot. I work from home and find it necessary to arrange meetings at coffee shops or just get out of my house for a change of pace. Needless to say, I have been to every coffee shop in town and REDTREE is my #1 home away from home for the following reasons: Not only can I get incredible coffee and free wireless, but the area is spacious and the music is not too loud allowing me to take/make a phone call or focus on my work and even listen to my own music through my ear phones. There are couches, conference tables, bar stools and cafe tables, so always a change of scenery depending on my mood. In the event that I am working all day from the coffee shop, I can have breakfast, lunch and dinner without needing to leave. Free parking in the back so I don’t need to fill the meter with quarters every 60 minutes and the shop is filled with revolving themes of artwork from local artists. It is pretty much the perfect coffee shop.
Mystery. …having a hard time taking anyone seriously who doesn’t like RT. Coffee is good, it’s renewed my appreciation for artisan soup, and who can beat a life-size paper-maiche Hulk Hogan?
