Talented chef brings the Southern Hospitality. Soho has a comfortable, informal dining room. Pleasantly bustling, but not too loud. The servers are attentive and friendly, but not intrusive.The star of the show is, of course, the food. Updated takes on southern comfort classics. The thing that most impressed me was the careful composition and balance of the dishes. The salads were refreshing blends of sweet, bitter, salty, and creamy. The entree’s components always played nicely together. The shrimp and grits are so delicious that we had to force ourselves to order something else on our subsequent visits. A recent special of crispy duck leg and dumplings was a total knockout. Save room for dessert, because their beignets with coffee-caramel dipping sauce are better than any we had in New Orleans.A great collection of southern-inspired cocktails can kick off or round out your meal. All in all, a great addition to the Ohio City neighborhood, and a great dining destination.
Outstanding! A nice change of pace from the bar pubs in Ohio City. I had the shrimp and grits and it was exquisite! Fat juicy shrimp over creamy grits with corn and asparagus. Pecan pie with burbon ice cream topped off the meal. Full beer menu too. Not to be missed!
Just ok, nothing stood out from this ordinary meal except its averageness. They will have to kick it in gear to remain in business.
Tried this place for the first time with my boyfriend and we had a great experience. Our server Misty was incredibly helpful, attentive, and friendly. It was packed on the Saturday night we went, so you’ll need a reservation! We had some bourbon cocktails, and for dinner had the steak and the crab-stuffed rainbow trout. Both were absolutely delicious. We has the beignets with caramel sauce for dessert – also amazing. Really had a great time, we’ll be back!
Below average. I was so anxious to try this place after reading reviews here and exploring the menu. But I was disappointed with the average to low quality of the meal. First, my wife ordered Country Carpaccio salad which she couldn’t eat because the greens weren’t rinsed well and there was a fine sandy or dirty grit on them. I ordered the Crab-Stuffed Rainbow Trout. It was unpleasantly dry and there was no discernible crab meat inside. It wasn’t very good. I also ordered a side of Cheesy Grits which were fair. About the only thing I really liked were the buttermilk biscuits. So I don’t expect that I’ll be going back there anytime and recommend you don’t either.
