At the end of a dreadful trip to my homelands. This meal of a house salad with a house made vinegarette, Filet Mignon, roasted potatoes, green string beans and a fantastic chocolate mousse. Every bite of the meal, reinforced my love for an often scoffed at cuisine (Meat and Potatoes). The meal was by far the best I have had in years and will stop back every trip home and through the Midwest. This restaurant’s rating is an absolute insult and I urge everyone to stop in for a fantastic meal.

I recently dined here with three colleagues. I ordered the filet, (my dinner actually looked just like the one in the picture posted here by someone else). The service was not what I would have expected. At the end of the meal, we received one check and were told they could only give one check per table. We had to do the math and figure out what each of us owed and two paid with cash but two had to use credit cards. The waitress returned the cards with the wrong receipts so it appeared as though the wrong amounts had been charged. When we questioned the mistake she was irritated and straight out rude! I’m the one who discovered her error and it ended up that the cards did not have to be re-run. No apology for her mistake. We are all professional people and were all in a state of shock over her behavior.

Wonderful food. Excellent service. I went here on date night with my boyfriend. I’m a lacto-ovo vegetarian and we have a hard time finding upscale restaurants with vegetarian options. We called ahead and the chef made me a beautiful dinner with mushroom quinoa, goat cheese an spinach stuffed tomatoes, and broccolini. That’s the kind of service you get when you eat local and chef-owned! We will be back.

Best Dining Experience Ever. Last Saturday I have the best dining experience I believe I have ever had in all my travels. I am ashamed to say this was my first visit after learning that the Rose and Thistle has been right here in my own backyard for over a decade. From perfection in Wine pairing, to the delicate quality of Oysters on the half shell (best ever), it started off beautifully. We were joking about how we were literally salivating over these oysters which left us both wanting more by literally wetting our appetite. The freshness of the Caesar salad and quality of care in making it did not go unnoticed. Our party tried two different entrees, the Monk Fish and the Beef Wellington. The Monk fish (first time for me) was presented with lobster sauce, forbidden rice and broccolini. The plate was gorgeous especially the contrast between the tender tiny black rice against the pale pretty color of the fish and sauce. Monk fish was something I had only seen on the Food Network and Chef Matt (who we met later) made me a believer. It was delicate like lobster with a mild flavor. We also ordered a divine Beef Wellington baked to perfection with Foie Gras, Mushroom Duxelles Wrapped in Puff Pastry with Red Wine Sauce (to die for), served with green beans (perfectly prepared) and a yummy thinly sliced and stacked potatoes cut into a triangle and baked again (I think, please forgive me if Im incorrect). Now, I have never been a fan of Foie Gras, but to my taste- buds delight it added the most wonderful richness to the already tender filet mignon and complimented the velvety wine sauce. Boy oh Boy it was a treat and an experiences I want to, and will do again very soon!

Great Food, very good value. Have gone to the Rose & Thistle twice now with my wife and other couples. Wonderful food, very high class, great service, very reasonably priced. Only seats around 30 so it’s always an intimate setting. Wonderful Rack of Lamb, Tuna, Scallops, Beef Wellington, Stuffed Lobsters, Steaks. We travel over an hour to get there and it’s one of our favorite restaurants.
