Wish I had better things to say. I went with a large group for a bachelorette party. First off they. messed up our reservation. We were there for 2 hours before we received any food; part of which was not correct. We asked for a manager who could not have been ruder and kept blaming the server for everything. We finally got our entrees which were cold and you could tell had been sitting. They did discount the entire table but I would never return or recommend.
This is a good place but not greatIt tends to attract an older crowd. Lots of beef! I’ve eaten here twice, not a place I’d go back to unless others really want toI had a sea bass dish with a kale/pancetta side. It had good flavor but was $25+It is s very expensive place for the experience$700 for a party of 5 last night
Positives: my martini was very good, as were our small plates. Negatives: food was luke warm, meat was dry, service was slow and the server was no where to be found. Spent much too much money for a lack luster experience
Stella, where have you gone?. Our last visit was late October 2013..divine. We’re from the Detroit area and when we’re visiting friends in Toledo, I insist on dining here. We’ve dined here numerous times and always a fabulous meal and experience. Not so last Friday, sadly enough. Started out being served by a new waitress, although pleasant, definitely not trained properly. She made a few mistakes which we overlooked because she was new. Ordered a couple of apps which were delicious along with a bottle of wine. Then on to the entrees which include a salad. After waiting for what seemed like a long time for the salads, sure enough I see a tray of entrees being brought up looking like our order. The waitress attempts to serve us, and I inform her that we never got our salads and that she needs to take these entrees back and I would hope that they won’t try to hold these in the kitchen and serve them to us later. Salads were good and we ordered a second bottle of wine. Then the entrees arrived. I ordered the cedar planked walleye which required a bamboo mat to place the ‘fresh out of the oven’ plank on in order to protect the table. The plank was room temperature at best, the fish was lukewarm and overcooked and the mashed potatoes had a hard dry crust on top, broccoli good although also not even warm. The manager Karen stopped by to check on us (always appreciated) so I informed her of all this and asked if this was under heat lamps. She checked and came back stating that it was ‘held’ in the kitchen. I’m sorry, but this is unacceptable for a fine dining establishment. It wasn’t our fault that the salads weren’t served. My friend’s pork tenderloin was also cold. I don’t dine out trying to get a free meal but I like to get what I paid for. All Karen was willing to do for us was treat us to 1 dessert. At the time, I accepted it so the evening could end on a good note but the more we talked about it afterward, the more I feel that we will not be dining at Stella’s again, which is sad because it was always a highlight of our visit. It seems like there have been some drastic and not beneficial changes in the staff here and like the other posts mention, the stunning glass floral hanging needs to be thoroughly dusted. Please come back Stella before it’s too late!
Don’t agree with the RAVE reviews. Went last weekend with an out of town friend and her husband to celebrate our holidays together. The place has great potential but they need to work on their ambience. The lights were too bright in the dining room upstairs (though they did move us when we requested) but most upscale dining places have dimmer lights and not a cafeteria atmosphere. Also with the lights soooo bright the place was dusty! They have a centerpiece of art work hanging from the ceiling, really is neat, but the dust is VERY thick hanging from the strings and on the glass pieces themselves. Also the banister, protecting you from falling downstairs, covered in dust too. This should not affect food quality but it does clue you in on their attention to detail.Food: we ordered the bouillabaise, was mediocre. My husband ordered the steak, again, mediocre. my other friend ordered the lamb burger, he seemed to enjoy it and said it tasted good. I think the food is overpriced for the quality.
We went to Stella’s tonight for the first time. It was a beautiful restaraunt and the waitress was nice. However, both of our steaks tasted like nothing, almost like cardboard. I ordered the filet mignon and I don’t think I’ve ever had such a bland tasting meal in my life. They also undercooked it and it had to be sent back. Both of our steaks were extremely dry, and the potatoes had an odd flavor. Our bill was 60.00 for just these 2 meals, and, sadly, I feel we could have had better steak at a Texas Roadhouse. Very disappointing experience, we will not be returning again.
Could use a little improvement. My friend and I dined at Stella’s yesterday for the first time in six months. We shared Mikes hot bread , it was good. After we shared our bread we waited over 45 minutes for our steaks. When they finally arrived they were inedible and full of fat and could not cut though them. We ordered our steaks medium and they came medium well -to well done. Service was slow but our waitress was friendly. They did reduce our bill by taking off one of the steaks however its was still a lot to pay for food we could not eat. Overall Stella’s is a beautiful and a great place to meet friends after a long day at work. However, I will not be ordering the steak again . Also I feel the wait for the dinner was unreasonable.
