Just what we needed, expensive bad Japanese food. 1. Miso soup- mediocre flavor but I liked the addition of the mushrooms. 2. Seaweed salad- not the best Ive had but probably the best thing we ordered. 3. Lettuce wraps- nothing to brag about but edible. 4. Summer Roll appetizer- comparing this to others weve had I have to say it was really bland…as in had zero flavor. The two sauces that were served with it were bursting with flavor. Unfortunately it was a terrible flavor for both. One had a very sharp peppery vinegar flavor and the other was like a thicken overly sweet peanut butter. Neither of us could palate either of the sauces. I plucked the (one) bland shrimp from my roll and tossed the rest away. 5. The Summer Maki- Im going to assume some of the blame for this one and just say that I find that cream cheese really over powers the flavors of maki and I need to learn NOT to order rolls with cream cheese anymore. That being said, the sauces were off putting. The roll was to include tuna, salmon and yellow tail and I cant honestly say that I noticed more than one small type of fish in it. 6. The Cherry Blossom Maki- this Roll was covered in fish and avocado. The quality of the fish was so poor that It was soft. The avocado had been cut too far in advance and it was darkened and soft as well. This was such a bad experience. My husband says he enjoys wasabi so much that he can eat any sushi. I teased him that he finally found a sushi he could eat. He couldnt disagree! We paid $65, which isnt bad for quality sushi, but that is not what we got. I hate restaurant regret but that is all we left Tea Tree Bistro with.
