So I’ll start this off on a bright note: the drinks here are really good. If friends and I are looking for a relatively nice place to grab drinks, we hit Bar Louie up. Are the drinks cheap? No, but they’re prices on par with most of the chain places in the area, so I know what I’m going into drinking here. Now, the food on the other hand, is not great. Last time I was there, I ordered the fish and chips, and ended up getting this plate with two large, round chunks of fish, cut and breaded, and I am assuming they were fried, but they weren’t crispy, and all the coating fell off in a soggy heap, to leave me a plate with sad flavorless fish, and just alright fries. If you’re gonna eat here, I say stick to appetizers, since those tend to fare better. Now service here has always been seriously lacking. We either get great servers, who are just too overworked to be able to do their job to the best of their ability, or we get awful servers who just act like they don’t care and give horrible service. Last time we were lucky enough to get switched from a table with an awful waitress, to one with a great waitress, but the great waitress was doing the job of three waitresses, and seemed to be stretched thin. Hopefully they can get some more great workers, and enough of them to make service manageable.

I think the idea of the restaurant is great, but the execution is not. The chicken pot pie soup was excellent and I can be a soup snob. The bruschetta didn’t have enough vinegar and was just kind of blah on the very dry crostini. My husband and daughter had the sliders and there too the buns were too dry and the burgers overcooked. I ordered the traditional calamari which were overcooked and the accompanying cocktail sauce had a lot of horseradish. Actually to a point that I could only slightly dunk the calamari into the sauce. The waitress did catch on though and she kept the lemonade coming, our daughter was quite impressed by that. We will not be back to Bar Louie, because for the prices charged it really was just ok.

Have been to many birthday parties here and have always had a great time. Staff is great and the food is worth every penny.
The Anti-Toledo Bar (Hooray!!). This is one of the only decent bars in the Toledo that makes you forget about the fact that you live in Toledo, which is a GREAT thing, I assure you. Some of the other reviewers are typical Toledo bubble people who have never been North of the border, love the turnpike and only leave town for Ohio State football games. It’s really not that expensive at all, especially during happy hour. Give it a try dirt bag.

Great food-large portions. Very loud atmosphere. Hip and urban.
