This was the 4 or 5th time we’ve been here and it seems it gets better each time. This visit was early before a play. VERY VERY busy. We had a reservation, thankfully. Seated and served promptly. We both had tabbouleh salad that was perfect. We also had Herbed Barramundi & asparagus. Cooked to perfection. The Lentil Falafel with vegan tomato ragout, haricot vert was perfection. We had an absolutely perfect meal. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Entrees were the flat iron, lamb shank, and capellini. All were spot on, good seasoning and the lamb was beautifully braised. Killer desserts too. Prix Fixe was a solid deal at $30. A good ghoice.

Not impressed. Way over priced for what you get. The atmosphere was nice, but the food didn’t match. I ordered the Atlantic sole, which was tasteless. Has potential. Our server Lauren was very attentive. Overall, nice atmosphere, good service, very disappointed by the food.
Mediocre fare, good service. Alas, our high hopes for a good pre-Aziz Ansari meal were quickly destroyed! The salad was far from fresh, the broccoli soup was quite good, the lentil falafel portion was way too big and poorly presented. A pedestrian quiche by any other name is still just that…calling it a vegetarian tarte did not make it special.The only redeeming quality was that the service was very good. Now if only the kitchen could step up their game…if they have it that is, this place may rise above the level of a mediocre restaurant that belongs in a mall, not in the theatre district.
We ate at The District before a play this evening. First of all, the restaurant has only been open two weeks so I feel I need to cut them some slack. They need signage (it’s coming) so it was hard to find. The decor is modern and fine with me – not stuffy. The menu is fairly imaginative and the food was nicely prepared and quite tasty. The food came out fast enough so that we were not rushed to get to our curtain. I had the special which was beef tenderloin and scallops in a wonderful sauce. My wife had the goose confit which was also quite good. We both had the beet and apple salad. The wine choices are rather pedestrian and somewhat limited, but the waiter made some suggestions that worked for us. Everything was available by bottle or glass. The French press coffee was superb. The biggest negative was that our red wine was not delivered with our entrees and we had to wait for several minutes for it to show up after I tracked down the waiter. We brought this to the managements attention and they were very accommodating, giving us free dessert. All in all, I would go back again. It was very convenient to the Playhouse Square theaters as well. Definitely a welcome addition.
