Reservations at Encore Restaurant. Tried several times tonight to make reservations for dinner for Sunday, December 14th. First the girl told me she didn’t have time to get the book and told me to call fifteen minutes later. Called 30 minutes later and hotel connected me to the restaurant where I was put on hold for twenty minutes. Called back and got hotel person again. Told him about being on hold. He talked to restaurant manager and was advised to call back at 7:30 pm. Called again and was put on hold again. Was on hold again for twenty minutes before I hung up. Guess they don’t need my business.

We visited Encore for a formal dinner before seeing a show at the State Theatre. We were very disappointed by the apathatic service but even more so by the lack of quality in the meal. We waited a very long time for everything-drinks, salads and meals. The prices were outlandish for the quality serviced. The seared scallop dish with orzo was $29 and included only 3 scallops that were stringy, overlooked, and over salted and peppered, there were more peas in the chicken stock overcooked orzo than anything else, and the beet salad tasted like salt. I also tried the fish monger stew and the entire dish was so overwhelmed with the peppery sauce that none of the fish could be enjoyed. Our servers were practically whispering and didn’t check or ask if we needed anything. It’s so sad that it’s one of the few restaurants close to something as great and historic as Playhouse Square. I would not recommend this restaurant. Cleveland has a lot better than Encore.

My wife and I were there for the weekend to see a show. First the valet guys nice the bell hop great but when you walk in to the hotel smells like sewage. (Later I ask about the smell apparently a pipe bust years ago caused damage they replace everything but every now and then they get a bad small.) We decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. We had reservation at 6 we got there a few minutes early. We were sat someone got our drink orders then forgot about us. 15 minutes later we had to flag someone down to order food. 40 minutes we ask for a manger cause food not arrived yet. They bring it out my wifes food was cold mine was the pork chop which was good but not the veal that I ordered. At this point we had 15 minutes to eat our food and get to the show. After show we go back to have a drink at the hotel bar. Good drinks. My wife was annoyed with the Crme brle (I dont eat that) she said it had no filling stuff it was just the hard crusted top thing. Go back to the room. The toilet only worked about had the time I had to remove the top part to get the thing to stop running. Overall dont go to the restaurant if you want food, drinks are ok. The hotel we will most likely try again because it is a nice location for theater.

The bar food is good. Everything else is pretty bad. I don’t recommend it.

Blue Bar needs a Bar Rescue. I stayed at the Wyndham and visited the bar. After your first drink, you can pretty much forget about anymore service. The bartender got the drink order wrong, domestic bottled beers. But, wouldn’t take it back, because she had already opened it, so they said we had to pay (really?). The appetizer order was incomplete, and that never go fixed. There are no waitresses or waiters taking orders, its only bartenders. The hotel’s food and beverage manager should be extremely embarrassed by this bar’s operation. Best to be avoided, unless your the only patron’s there. Maybe if the two bartenders put their heads together you can get some decent service.

We recently stayed at the Wyndham. I did not eat at the Encore Restaurant but I did eat at the Blue Bar. The service was not that good, but the place was packed and only the bartender was on duty. Poor guy seemed overwhelmed and mixed up quite a few orders. The appetizers and drinks are half off from 4:30 to 7 Monday through Friday. And let me say that they were delicious! The french fries were to die for and the pulled pork sliders were so good. The quesadillas were a good size and the wings were overflowing. I recommend this for anyone staying at the hotel and for a bite to eat before a show. I will definitely return.
