The food is great. The service leaves A LOT to be desired. I’ve been here twice, once when they were slammed, once when we were the only ones in the place. Today we sat at the bar. Both times the service was slow, and you could tell the employees didn’t care about your experience. We’ll find somewhere else to go next time we’re in town.
Patio is nice but the food is way overpriced for this establishment. Portions are small for the price
Valentines Day. I have been to Hodge’s in Cleveland twice now. Both times I have gone, we have had excellent service and the food has been great. I have had the steak twice there and have to say it has been excellent. In the summer when you can sit outside and enjoy karaoke and a fire pit with good food it is especially a great evening.
Had dinner at Hodges with our two kids. Not a family on the road type of restaurant but we wanted something a bit nicer and more adult. Hodges didn’t dissapoint any if us. I recommend the scallops over barley and the pea bisque (perfect for summer). Our server was friendly and prompt and worked with us to create a healthy and fun menu for our kids. If in Cleveland, we recommend Hodges.
Management, servers, and especially the kitchen can’t seem to handle the amount of tables and orders that are generated by the patio crowds. My party of 8 had 5:30 reservations this past Tuesday for a pre-show dinner. Orders for their 2 for $40 were placed by 6:00. We informed our server that we were on a tight schedule and needed to be out by 7:15 for a show. Wine came out by 6:20 and appetizers did not make it out until 6:45! Repeated inquiries about our dinners were met with head nods. At 7:15 I got up and walked out of the patio. According to my friends, dinner arrived at 7:20! I, fortunately, made the curtain for my show. My friends tried to scarf down their meals in 5 minutes and missed the beginning of the show and suffered from indigestion! Shame on the management for setting out more tables than the kitchen could handle. Backlogs of orders, new staff, or shortages of menu items should not be the problems of the customer. That is purely a management issue! In an attempt to be a Cleveland hot spot and a restaurant in high demand – they have sacrificed the quality experience a diner would expect from such an establishment in exchange for customer volume. This is unfortunate as I have had several wonderful experiences at this venue. I hope this is not indicative of their management style as they seek to expand their holdings as they renovate the old Bricco location across from Playhouse Square!
My wife and I had dinner at Hodges before theater on June 6th. The experience was quite good. The food was excellent and the service was superb. The wine list was a tad thin and the decor is rather minimalist, but I don’t select restaurants based on decor. I had the Kale Ceasar Salad and the Hangar Steak. The latter was perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned and the green beans and smashed roasted potatoes were very tasty.
