Love this place. We were there on Sunday late afternoon and were seated in the hall at a communal table where we quickly made new friends from the area. The hall was loud as the polka band played nearly nonstop, but it was perfect for the setting. The staff were all dressed in German garb and were quick to take orders and sling beers! While I enjoyed the Bavarian buffet allowing me to try a host of dished, the GF went for the Breaded Jagerschnitzel. As always, she had the better choice. The pork schnitzel was huge, perfectly crispy breaded under a glorious bacon/mushroom gravy all atop a bed of perfectly prepared homemade spaetzel. I sampled the sausages, roast pork from a carving station, the German macaroni and cheese (a creamy sauce with a swiss cheese bite blended with their excellent spaetzel). The in-house brewed pilsner and wheat beer were both excellent, while the GF enjoyed a few German Chocolate Cake martini’s. In all we spent over 2 hours enjoying the company, music, food and drinks and the bill was under $100, probably the best use of time and money we spent in Cleveland!
stopped in for a few drinks (beer) after a few downtown meetings. Not fair to rate this place completely, as we did not eat dinner. Main restaurant was closed to set up for a private party. Sat down the hall. Nothing special there. Beer menu was unfamiliar and just OK. had 2 lagers and 2 dunkel expressos for $30+ bucks. Again, decent beer at nothing special prices. Would return after a show, but think you would be better off at Sokolowski’s for this type of food.
Nice place fun atmosphere great staff. We had a party of 10. They sat us at a small table saying this will fit 10 to 12 ummm they were wrong. We asked for a Bigger table took a few minutes but it all worked out. The menu had numbers by all the dishes but our waiter says he did not know what they were and it was more fun to try to pronounce the name of the dish even if you completely butchered the name. Over all the fried pickle crout balls were very good. I got the breaded pork cutlet. With fried potatoes very good very tender very one I was with REALY enjoyed their food and it was served in a timely matter and yes it was very crowded so all the reviews that say it is slow service must not eat out often this is not mc Donald’s stop by and. have a stone of beer or two or more
$10 Friday Fish Fry WALLEYE is a GR8 DEAL for this place! tho i wasn’t, personally, ‘hooked’ by the Hofbrau-ishness (traditional fare or beer), i’d return for another value-priced daily special, if it’s as good as the walleye was.
First tip: make a reservation if you can! The line was out the door and around the building but we made a reservation so we got right in. The beer is great! The food is alright but most of the sides aren’t fresh but the pork was good. Our server was horrible and I will be contacting the restaurant about her. She mixed up our beer, our food and our bill. The place is busy but you need to be on top of your game if we are dropping $90 for 2 people. We’d go back but would probably just do beer and apps. The portions are large enough to split.
I so much wanted to love this place, the idea the concept and the environment. I knew the ratings were bad so it was better than I expected but if you cannot pick out polish food compared to german food you will fare well. It just was so disappointing like McGerman food. Pretzels like i can get in the freezer section of the local grocery. Why can’t you just up the game and be real. The beer was good and environment (including seating and decorations ROCK)—But don’t go for the food.
Great experience, staff was nice and friendly. Beer was top and food is bavarian type food, very rustic – I liked it!
