Nice little Deli. They have a great selection of fresh produce. At the meat counter, you can order homemade Boars Head sandwiches with a side salad. Great salad bar is set up daily. This is an awesome quick lunch spot if your on the go. Also friendly owners as well.
This is a very nice neighborhood deli on the east side of St Bernard, right next to the cemeteryUp front are chips, snacks and the single registerThe middle of the store is dominated by a well-stocked by-the-pound salad bar. The back of the store is the deli counter, where the friendly staff will pretty much make you a sandwich using any of the deli meats and/or cheeses they offer in a single or double configuration on white, wheat, or rye. I’ve included a picture of a single – more than enough for most folks for lunch. They apparently have random/potluck specials and a soup or two that are available only in a very tight timeframe of 11am to 1pm, and since I typically get lunch a bit later, I have not experienced these as yet.A custom built single sandwich of beef pastrami on rye (with some of the thinnest cut sliced onion I have ever seen) and a bag of upscale chips came in at under 5 bucks out the door. Everything except the bread was top notch for a cold cuts sandwich – nothing wrong with the bread, just was kinda more or less same as a typical store bought sliced breadRecommended
Great food but…. Horrible service. I love the delicious sandwichs but the service is horrible. Everyone that works there is rude including the owner. Plus, they have the most unreliable hours. I called down to see how late they were open. I was told 5:00. I showed up at 3:00 PM and the owner had locked the door and was sweeping. Three other people had pulled up to come in and he waved us all off very rudely. On several other occasions they close without any warning after I already made the trip. Very unreliable. Too bad because the food at this place is amazing.
Scherpies has three very good home made chicken salads. The bread they serve their sandwiches on is cheap white/wheat/rye that didnt stand up to the salads and quickly became soggy. Prices were reasonable, service was fast and the selection was pleasantly limited to classics.
The best lunch deal in north side and they really give you alot of quality meats and cheeses on your sandwich
