Flying Cranes Brunch is a Treat. Flying Cranes Cafe has been in business since 2007 so I was long past due for a visit. In addition to serving Japanese noodle and rice dishes, they offer soups, sandwiches, salads, hot pots, quiches, brunch and high tea. Located in a tiny spot on Larchmere off Shaker Square, they offer a cozy spot for any time of day.My friend and I chose the Full Course Brunch ($14) that consisted of coffee or tea, soup, breakfast entree, fresh fruit and dessert. I selected coffee, the carrot ginger soup, broccoli quiche that also came with a small salad and an oatmeal raisin cookie. The star for me was the soup even though it was served lukewarm – I loved the smooth texture and zing of the ginger. Also the ginger salad dressing is similar to the kind you get at a hibachi restaurant but better. It’s available by the bottle to take home too.Our service was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. You can tell that everything is homemade. Tip: It’s really tiny so it’s not good for a large group.

Waited 20 min to get a cold slice of quiche with a boring side salad & fruit cup on a paper plate. I sent it back & got the same piece, nuked with a soggy crust & crumbly, over cooked filling. I paid $10 for this poor excuse for a lunch, plus $2.50 for a bottle of Izze that I also sent back because it was the wrong flavor. Would not return.

Lovely restaurant. I have really enjoyed this restaurant, and the food was delicious. I tried the Chicken Teriyaki, Salmon Teriyaki, and Udon, and all have been authentic. Great prices, great atmosphere, and a lovely hidden backyard to sit amongst the flowers and trellis.

A must-do on east side. This is a very quaint and comfortable gem off the beaten path. on top of that, the food was outstanding. though i usually get the chicken teriyaki, the donburi bowls are delicious and so are the more western sandwiches and soups. this is not fusion cooking, just good old ethnic wester and asian dishes.

I love Flying Crane!!. You absolutely have to get to this restaurant – I can’t believe I haven’t been there sooner! The food is homemade and delicious – best lunch I’ve had in a long time! And nothing beats the garden out back, you really forget you are on Larchmere in Cleveland, Ohio! Highly recommend the chicken salad and the mac and cheese!

I love this little cafe. The menu is really interesting as it has typical bistro fare, but also delicious Japanese entrees. Don’t miss the tofu teriyaki. I also love the desserts. The best thing about te place is the backyard garden… Just gorgeous.
