I’m just going to come out and say it. SIlverton Donut Shop’s donuts are better than Holtman’s. Holtman’s donuts are fine and I know Cincinnati is currently swept up in a love fest for them, but Silverton’s are tops in my book.I’m a cake donut girl through and through. Silverton’s cake donuts are so light and fluffy, never greasy and not overly heavy. Tear open a plain, old-fashioned cake donut and the texture inside is downright pillowy. Their cake donuts are perfectly complimented by a cup of black coffee. When someone grabs a dozen or two to bring into work, I always have a hard time deciding between powdered sugar, plain cake with chocolate frosting or a plain old fashioned cake donut. All are equally delicious.
