Sweet Potato Souffle and Collard Greens. I love the sides at Rudy’s! I have been coming here for a while now, but just discovered that they have delicious collard greens. I tried them at a tasting with the catering director. She was very informative about options we would have for catering. We loved many of their sides, but sweet potato souffl and collards were our favorites.
A MUST have!. My wife and I enjoy going to Rudy’s often. The staff is friendly, food is DELICIOUS, and the price is great, especially when you see how much food they give you! I always get the pulled pork, but they catered an event at my work and I tried the Turkey for the first time…WOW! It is amazing. We love supporting a locally owned restaurant and have bumped into the owner several times…always smiling and making us laugh! Great little find for locals and travelers.
Disappointed. Wanted some good barbecue……not the place to go!The woman at the counter was incredibly rude! The place was dirty.There must have been a hillbilly convention in town. The customers were loud and unruly.The food…….I’ve had better food in jailDo yourself a favor and don’t eat there!
Favorite. When we visit Ohio we LOVE to stop at Rudy’s Smokehouse. Delicious food, its never been bland like some reviews say, and the people are friendly. It is a clean, casual atmosphere and my wife and I love stopping in as we pass through town
Close to I-70, quick, and cheap for lunch. A good alternative to fast food. Sweet potato casserole was very good.
It was really good. The ribs just fall of the bone! And the sides were great. We were just driving through and everyone is so friendly!!! I would love to come back but we live out of state. Try it!
Bland. I have been to the Bechtel Avenue location several times. I also drive past this location several times a week and have NEVER seen any smoke or smelled the flavorful odors of meat slow smoking for 12-16 hours as a pork shoulder should be treated. Unfortunately the lack of smoke flavor in the meats makes for an extremely bland meal. Couple that with their less than flavorful sauces and you have a meal that neither excites nor satisfies, merely fills the stomach. I have tried the pulled pork, the brisket, the pulled chicken etc. All are moist but have a distinctly stewed, not smoked taste. It would appear that the meats are cooked elsewhere and brought in to this location thus the stewed quality of meat being held in warmers for hours on end. If you like bland meat with little added flavor to cover the taste of the flesh then Rudy’s is for you. If you like true smoked meats and southern style BBQ then take a pass and travel to Columbus or Beaver Creek and try City BBQ.
