At Wasabi a lot depends on your chef…. unfortunately we had a mediocre at best chef, which only added to the disappointment of being told it was and hour wait and ended up being and hour and 45 minutes. The chef had limited engagement with us, no saki squirts, and minimal seasoning of the food, no garlic, or other spice – it was rather bland…you didn’t notice it until you saw the Chef on the table across and saw what was missing….
Horrible place. We had reservations at 8 didn’t get seated until 830, ok that’s normal. Service was going good. You could not understand our chef though. He was bad. He started flinging food he flung scalding hot egg at our table guest,he flung a piece at me and it landed in my hand burning it. While I was leaned over examine my hand he flung another piece onto my head. Spoke to the people that went with us and they too said they were burned by the egg. We hardly got any veggies the steak was fatty and on the menu it says you get white or fried rice soup and salad. They charge you for the fried rice and 18% gratuity and you don’t Even get ice cream or a cookie at the end. I won’t go back to this place, I will always go to hibachi Japan in cuyahoga falls. Far better than this place
As a follow up to the previous review, we did go to A-1 Japanese Steakhouse. We had wonderful service, wonderful food, were seated immediately and were given a discount when the manager heard what had happened. We will be returning to A-1 from this point forward.15 Mar, 2015I’m not sure where to start a review in which I didn’t make it to the actual dinner, but here is my attempt:We arrived for our 8:30 reservation at 8:20 after calling at 7:45 and being informed there weren’t any earlier cancellations, but that we could come at our reservation time. Approximately 50 minutes later, a walk-in who had been waiting an hour and twenty minutes who had finally complained enough was bumped ahead of us by the manager immediately after we were told we were next. To be fair, we were seated six minutes after we were passed. After being seated, I saw the manager, a younger, blonde haired man, and decided to discuss the lack of timeliness in seating our reservation coupled with the aforementioned issue. At this point he apologized and tried to cover for his putting people without a reservation ahead of us by stating they had been skipped earlier. I asked how you get skipped on a list when you are only dealing in reservations like we were told on the phone. He said I wasn’t listening to him and I mentioned it was the second time in a row we have had to wait almost an hour, even while having a reservation and that we never have this issue at A-1 hibachi grill. He then tersely asked if I would like him to do something for us or if I would like to go to A-1. I mentioned his business decisions were his prerogative and he then said okay and walked away. I’m not one for complaining much at restaurants or seeking free meals, but this was the worst managed and inefficient hibachi grill I have ever been too. Each time we go, reservations are pointless as they cannot manage their floor. These issues coupled with the most tactless, unprofessional manager I have ever met led me to immediately take my group of 5 from the table and head to A-1 where we were seated immediately with a smile. Do yourself a favor and don’t waste hours of your life waiting for pedestrian hibachi food and head to any of the other places in town. There are plenty to choose from and most won’t treat you like they don’t give a damn.
