A lot of heart. The first impression is that this diner is a labor of love. The restaurant is very tidy. The waitress and owner were both eager to hear our impressions; they wanted to make sure we were happy with everything. My three-year old had a great time. He loved his pancakes (my wife and I tried them; they were really good – probably the highlight of the meal). My wife order a chicken tawook platter. She liked the wrap. The lemon rice soup had an incredibly strong lemon flavor. It is an acquired taste – very intense.I ordered the chicken & hummus platter. The chicken was well-cooked and well-seasoned. I eat a lot of hummus; this hummus was not my favorite – not bad, just not as good as many other places in Toledo.The menu has tons of options – maybe too many. There are Italian, Mediterranean, and Breakfast sections – not to mention sandwich and salads.In the Toledo market, with so many restaurants with similar choices, Ayana’s struggles to stand out. But it is a solid neighborhood eatery. They try hard and care a lot. I’m pulling for them.
