Absolutely amazing food.. We’ve stopped ordering pizza delivery because why get anything but Calvino’s pizza? Hands down, the best pizza in the area.

Great food, not-so-great employees. My fiance and I went on a food adventure and stumbled upon Calvino’s. At first we were a little shocked at the prices, our pasta dishes were almost $12 apiece for Olive Garden sized portions. HOWEVER, the taste was worth it, I ordered the fettucinni Alfredo. Our only complaint was the unprofessional vibes from the employees- we were skipped in line at the door, and tie-dye t-shirts and yoga pants to work at a slightly pricey Italian joint? I felt it was being operated by college kids, not what I want if I’m paying so much for pasta.

Bad service. I went a couple years ago with my dad and had the pizza. It was okay, but just that. I recently tried to take my boyfriend there (I insisted that they were good, but it took a lot of convincing to get him to go) and the servers were horrible. I asked for a drink menu, and they said they didn’t have one. If you have a bar, you should be able to make drinks… not just sell wine and beer. So I got a water, my boyfriend got a flat pop. I don’t even think it was the drink that he actually ordered. We ended up walking out without ordering anything because of how rude the waitress was. I don’t know, first impressions are really important and we’re not going to be back any time soon.

Fun, Fresh, Fast, but a little pricey. This is a nice pizza place to stop by, their artisan pizza and stromboli’s are a good bet. Also, they have some very good hummus (chicken kabobs are good too that comes with hummus). Beer and Wine is pricey. Watch those steps if you eat upstairs, they are uneven (you think the owner would fix this someday?).

Awesome Stromboli !! It’s little close upstairs but the food makes up for it. Leave your coat in the car, serious food. B.O from the kitchen under you. Try the pizzas too !

Bit overpriced on pasta, hate a place that uses frozen ingredients. I’m an Italian food enthusiast, and you can often find the best home-cooked Italian meals in smaller restaurants. I tried Calvino’s for lunch as it looked it a nice little place. I went in and was a bit confused- there was nobody there to greet me, and there was a single bar table in view. After a minute or so, a cook came out of the kitchen and instructed me to go upstairs. The steps are pretty narrow…not a place you want to take your grandmother.I say myself down, and about 5 minutes later a waitress came running by to give me a menu. There were no mention of specials, but there was a listing on a dry erase board. The menu is a bit limited, but interesting. There’s a strange mixture of Lebanese and Italian dishes. I went with the linguine and mushrooms ($11.40) and meatballs ($1.85).The order came with a salad and garlic bread. The bread was delicious! Crispy, buttery outside, covered with Parmesan cheese, light and fluffy on the inside. Very nice. The salad was quite large for a side dish, but had a nice presentation. Seasoned with oregano and covered with black olives, sliced pepperocini peppers, a couple of Roma tomatos, and diced green pepper and onion, it wasn’t too bad. My only complaint is white onions were used—and they were in large chunks. A bit overpowering but they were easily avoided. My dish came quickly (under 10 minutes). A rich and hearty Marinara sauce covered the linguine, which was mixed with raw mushrooms and several small meatballs. I found it odd that raw mushrooms were added to a pasta dish…I’ve never seen this before. Sauteing the mushrooms with garlic butter and a splash of port wine would have given it a bit more flare and flavor. The meatballs that I had to pay extra for? They were of the frozen variety. Rubbery, salty, over-processed protien/filler balls is a better name for them. Come on people—you have that nice sauce and bread, make your own meatballs too! Overall, the food was decent, but not worth the price. At over $13, I could have gotten a much nicer version of this meal elsewhere.

No Coupon Prob here. Unfortunate that a reviewer had trouble with their BOGO coupon at Calvino’s. We used all (four?) with no difficulty or compromise from the 2011 book. Bought Pasta and a Stromboli, and bought two pasta’s on different occasions. The menu is pretty small, I can’t imagine being limited even more so. We enjoy Calvino’s immensely – kinda trendy, kinda SoHo, good food, interesting wines, and nice, helpful staff.Looking forward to using my 2012 Around the World Book.
