Room for improvement. I really wanted Final Cut to live up to its positive reviews. It was a lovely experience in terms of dcor, ambiance and special touches by the staff. The best in Toledo for a special occasion. The food did not live up to the lovely surroundings. Fresh baked bread with balsamic butter and butter with truffle salt were a treat. The balsamic butter was truly unique and delicious and the truffle salt butter was a nice touch. We had the oysters on the half shell and crab cakes for appetizers. The oysters were fresh but small with modest flavor. The crab cakes are the best in Toledo. Large chunks of crab served with an uninspired aioli sauce. The main course consisted of the Midwestern corn fed filet and the pork chop. The filet was requested rare and it was closer to medium rare. It was reasonably tender and flavorful with minimal seasoning. The pork chop was prepared medium rare as requested. It could have used more seasoning. The gooseberry jam was delicious. Sides were the mac and cheese and roasted mushrooms. Nothing special here. The mushrooms could very well have come from a can. No indication they were fresh or other than button mushrooms. Dessert was candy apple caramel custard with stained glass sugar cookies. The presentation was clever and required skill to execute. It was, however, painfully sweet. One does not come to a place like Final Cut with a budget in mind but comparing the bill to a recent visit for the same menu at another local restaurant brought it home. The meal at the other restaurant, particularly the beef, was better quality at less than half the price.

Finally a 5-star restaurant in Toledo. Yes, it is expensive, but well worth it! The food is exquisite, and the service impeccable. If you want a fine dining experience, The Final Cut must be visited, regardless whether you want to gamble in the casino or not. The Final Cut is the crown jewel of restaurants in the Greater Toledo area.

Impressive New High End Dining Experience. Went this this past weekend with some friends to enjoy a nice evening meal, reservations are generally a must, so be prepared. This place is outstanding, the decor, the service, it really was an ‘experience’. Although I will say for a place that advertises a dress code of business casual, there were people in their with jeans and shorts on. That being said, the Steaks were 5 stars, tasty, juicy, and cooked just right. The appetizer’s were a solid 4 stars (seafood platter was good, not great, but the calamari were great). The side dishes, were underwhelming – 2 Stars in my opinion. Garlic mashed was just okay, asparagus was good, and the button mushrooms were plain…the side dishes are ala cart and about $7 apiece, yet big enough to share. However, the service excelled on all levels, also they know how to mix a good drink and their wine list is above average. For a steakhouse, they make about as good of a steak as a Mancy’s or Rockwells, but Final Cut’s presentation was better and of course the service was better. A strong entry into the high end Steakhouse, I will be curious if they can keep up the service quality consistently.
