Advertisement not honored. My husband and I saw an advertisement in the Blade for $11.99 Lake Erie Perch including salad and side for $11.99 . There were no rules only the dates the price was valid. We went there and ordered the perch and they charged us $19.95. We didn’t notice until we got home so my husband went back a few days later to get the money they overcharged us. The owner was extremely rude and refused to honor the advertisement because it was not for evening. I guess that explains why there were only 2 other tables besides us at 7:15 on a Thursday night. He cheated us out of $16.00 but he’ll never get another penny from us.

Yech!. Like the other reviewer said, beware of some of the fast moves this place makes regarding using gift cards, etc. At best, this is a poor excuse for a restaurant. The appearance is your first tip off but when we know a place is shabby but with good food, we’re ok with that but that’s not the case here. We asked the waitress specifically if the crab cakes were homemade & with real lump crab (as stated on the menu) and she assured us they were; not! These were skinny, little, flat and breaded – the absolute cheapest of the commercially processed type you’d buy in a grocery store. Not a scrap of real crab meat either thought they cost like they were top of the line. Maybe this place was nicer in it’s day but now it’s just a diner type place with delusions of being a steak/seafood house.

Stay Far Away. I had a $50 gift certificate that was given to me as a gift. I took my family to dinner at The Mango Tree. Before I got in the door there were signs posted about using the Entertainment Book coupons and other coupons stating they are sorry for the inconvenience but you can’t use a coupon on this day or that day or with this offer or that offer. It was all quite amusing. Thank goodness I had a gift certificate for an actual dollar amount. We were told about a few good sounding specials. We all ordered our selected items. The food was about as good as the service – mediocre. The steaks were not prepared as ordered, the twice baked potatoes were apparently made last week and warmed up especially for us. The salads were pretty good, the bread was warm and fresh. When we received our bill, I placed the $50 gift certificate and the additional needed cash to cover the cost of the meal and a tip. Our waitress came back with our gift certificate telling me that they couldn’t accept it on dinner specials. C’mon, we received the gift certificate as a gift. Someone paid for it, whether it was a promotion The Mango Tree decided to be involved on or whether it was paid for for the full face value…either way it is worth $50 for food. No, not tonight it wasn’t. I wasn’t about to pay cash for the entire meal and have to come back to use the gift certificate another time (the meal wasn’t that great). I asked the waitress to charge me the full price for our menu items, that way the gift certificate wouldn’t be used on any dinner specials. It was a mediocre meal and their policy on accepting their own gift certificates is quite ridiculous. Im wondering if thats why there were only 2 other tables with people in the restaurant the entire time we were there? My suggestion…take your money elsewhere and have a great dining experience.
