The Owner At Uncle Johns Is As Racist As It Gets Too.
Wow! Awesome! Love It!. Like many places, you need to know what to order here. For fans of a sweet breakfast, the apple pancake is huge and delicious! Topped with apples and cinnamon sugar, the base is more like a thick crepe than a pancake. If you prefer a savory breakfast, the omelets are big, baked, and delicious! I like the Santa Fe with jalapenos among its many flavorful ingredients. The omelets are served with a side of pancakes, and for just $1 extra, you can choose any kind of pancake. I recommend the blueberry, chocolate chip, or the potato pancakes. Not to be missed here is the bacon… thick cut and perfectly cooked. SO GOOD! I also love the pecan french toast. They have several varieties of warm syrup and a very rich, very good hot chocolate. The eggs benedict has homemade hollandaise sauce that’s just great! So much to try… cherry crepes, Hawaiian pancakes, coconut waffle, and the German Pancake… all have very enthusiastic fans among my friends!This place is really really good! Weekends from about 11 to 1 you may encounter a crowd, but any other time and any time on weekdays is a good time to try this great food! If you’re here on a weekend, they do a very good job of working through the waiting customers quickly. It’s located on Central Ave, just west of Secor Road. It’s also kid-friendly, with a Kids Menu, high chairs and boosters, crayons, and a changing table. Thw wonderful waitstaff is very accomodating. They will even happily allow you to call ahead if you have a party of 6 or more. This place will likely become one of your favorites! You won’t regret trying it!
Not too much flavor. Like many breakfast places in the area this one isn’t a fan of adding seasoning to its food. If you like plain potatoes and eggs then this is fine, but nothing here is special. Everything is extremely bland. The service was fine, but if the food isn’t good then it doesn’t really matter.
Refreshed and better than ever. Even better than before the fire–so fresh and bright and clean now, terrific service, and the food is so good.
Potato Pancakes with Apricot Sauce. I enjoy going to Original Pancake House because of the quality of the food, the decor (which I’m not sure how to describe, but it’s always fun to hear the coocoo clock!), and the people. One of my favorite meals is potato pancakes and they will serve them with a side of apricot sauce (such is the way of my people). We’ve only had supper there once, on a Friday evening, and the food was good too. My only disappointment was when I found out that Original Pancake House was a franchise. 🙂 Overall, I give it high marks!
They have good food and a wonderful atmosphere!!!! But still, Uncle Johns is better!…
