Good food at a reasonable price for being so close to UC. I had chicken katsu curry and now I’m dying to try everything else on the menu. (The taiyaki is wonderful, although the batter does leave something to be desired.)

Insanely Good Sushi. We go out for sushi every 2-3 months or so. Over the course for 5 years I’ve probably eaten at every popular sushi restaurant in Cincinnati. Maki is in a league of their own. In presentation, quality, and taste. They are hands down the best sushi in Cincinnati. Nothing else even comes close. I’ve been through the Mt. Lookout 1/2 price sushi gimmicks. Low quality sushi consisting mostly of rice. On the other end of the spectrum, I’ve had the high-stuff at Embers. Overpriced and typically pretty delicious. Then I make my round to Maki when I’m in the area. Reasonably priced with sushi is that out of this world. I always make sure to get the New York Roll and Floating Eel Roll.
Always enjoyed my visits to Maki. Gotta love the classic rock on the stereo.
Hmm… I like the diggs. It’s cute, quaint and cozy. However, what is a sushi restaurant that is perpetually out of salmon roe and other common ingredients? The fish tastes decently fresh, but I was also shocked that the minimum credit card amount was $15 (more than a typical meal here!). Mt. Adams is too close to stop here again.
Great little place. I first came here within a few weeks of the place opening and was impressed. I generally got a spicy shrimp or tuna roll and chicken teriyaki. Both were done well and I never had an issue with service. It would appear as though a husband and wife run the place, and both are very friendly. The store front is extremely small and while this wasn’t an issue when I was the only person going there, it became pretty awkward once other people caught on. There is a certain degree of humility you have to have to endure eating alone while being surrounded by loud college kids. One thing I have to complement them on is their spicy sauce for the sushi. It is to this day the best I’ve had.
