First off this place is Loud- really loud. If you go with friends prepare to have to bellow over the music, or give up on conversation. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, and the drinks are great, both the beers, and mixed drinks. Their food is not my favourite though. All but 3-4 of the sandwiches have some fried thing as a component, and call me crazy but I like to have jalapeno poppers, and onion rings outside of my sandwich, not inside. Their sandwiches are made on Texas toast, I don’t know if this means you should be more excited about it- for me it throws off the ratio of bread to fillings in a sandwich. Because of the massive bread slices, and fairly generous fillings, this is a knife and fork kind of sandwich affair (got no problems with this- just doesn’t jive all that well with the beer and grease vibe they have going). My roast beef sandwich was fine, if nothing to rave about. The chips we go on the side were rather salty. The portions are huge, so my husband and I shared a sandwich. We had a nice evening there but I don’t think I shall be going back.
If you’re from Northeast Ohio you have to give Melt at least one try. They have something on the menu for everyone. Service was great and the wait time for the food was reasonable seeing that they were packed on a Saturday night. I got The Dude Abides and enjoyed it. Only knock is that it seemed more like a meatball sub than a grilled cheese with meatballs. Will visit again!
Was super good until they changed the fries to frozen. I went back a couple of weeks ago and EVERYTHING was soggy. I had to send my sandwich back and I’ve never done that before.
Great deal for the money EXCEPT…..I have had delicious build-your-own kindergarten sandwiches and burgers here. The homemade bread is cut marvelously thick, toasted, and buttered. Be bold and ask for FRESH fries at the Cleveland Heights location, and you will not be disappointed. The house salad is enormous and inexpensive. My husband and I share one and can never finish it. My husband adores the wide beer selection. All good, EXCEPT: the wine. They serve a 5- ounce pour of below average wine at around $10 a glass. The selection is pitiful and the prices are ridiculous. Maybe they really don’t want wine lovers to eat there. I have made phone calls to no avail. They have also been reducing the selection of toppings for the sandwiches. They used to have spinach and havarti on the menu, for example, but no more. They also got rid of the spinach salad. Makes you wonder. We rarely go anymore.
Pre-dinner beers. Pretty hard to get a beer at the var while you are waiting for your seat. Almost seems that they actively ignore you unless you start stacking straws on the bar.Too bad. I’m avoid ripper when I get good service.
FEAST.. Melt is one of my favorite all around THINGS about cleveland. while their image is a little bit portlandia hipster ridiculous, they’ve got the menu to convince you they’re more than just image. the portions are enormous, the buffalo tofu is mouth-watering, the service is friendly. i’ve been to a few of their locations, consistency isn’t an issue!. the price is a tad splurge-y, but when you see the leviathan of a sandwich you’ll receive, you’ll be fine with the price!
Amesome all around experience! Great service and atmosphere and even better food! The buffalo chicken chowder soup was the best soup I have ever tasted. Loved my melt as well. My husband is a big eater, and he couldn’t even finish his meal. Reasonable prices for generous portions. Can’t wait to come back and try more!
