This was recommended to me by my dance instructor as the best sushi restaurant in Columbus. I can’t say that I agree. Maybe I just chose the wrong thing, but the sushi did not taste good to me at all and I will not eat there again.
Decent food, not worth awful service. Avoid this place unless you literally have all night to waste and have snacks with you to tide the long wait for food. We were one of THREE small tables in the place on a Saturday night. There were two servers who were both equally slow and shared the tables. It literally took ten minutes to even get our drink order in (they serve canned soda, by the way). Another twenty minutes later, the server came by to get our food order. They brought each food item out individually, so I was sitting there staring at my sushi for at least five minutes while my friend was still waiting for his. The server completely forgot that we each ordered soup, and the only time he wasn’t insanely sluggish the whole night was when I pointed out his oops after our food had finally all come out. The sushi and Japanese food were pretty average. Good, but nothing special. Definitely not worth the poor service. I’m not that picky of a person and could reconcile the slow service if the waiters were visibly busy and the place was packed, but from my table I could see them just hanging out by the sushi bar all night doing NOTHING! Not once did a waiter come around to ask if our food was good or if we needed anything else, nothing like that. Horrible.
OVERPRICED. What a joke. $80 for 2 beers, 20 pieces of small shashimi and 2 bowls of white rice?PLEASE!
Best kept secret. Loved it! Nothing fancy about the atmosphere …bit of a hole in the wall but the food and service were incredible. We went to use a groupon and have found a new favorite place. Food was fabulous and staff was great with service, descriptions and suggestions to us novice Japanese eaters:) We will definately go back and take friend.
Give this place a try.. I personally don’t like sushi, or Japenese food in general, so I ordered off the Korean menu. The Bulgogi (marinated slices of beef and pan fried) was quite good. I highly recommend.
Just not the same without Ox as I’m sure everyone can tell right when they walk in the door. He added the spunk and personality to the restaurant. This does not mean the food has been a let down, still outstanding. Salmon teriyaki is to die for and the sushi is still excellent!
What did you guys do with Ox??? Terribly disappointed when I walked in expecting a warm Ox greeting, and he was gone. Sorry, just not the same without him.
