Had dinner with another couple on a Saturday night. First time here for all. The menu is quite diverse. Two of us got lamb shanks, I got the salmon and the other diner the linguine with shrimp. Food was good, salads were good, service was good. Ambience was nice. All in all a nice evening. Didnt blow me away, but it was good.

Col Buco. Long spiral strands of pasta is a rich tomato sauce with chunks of braised pork17 May, 2015Chinato for lunch. One of the benefits to working downtown is always having somewhere fabulous to eat close by. I’m especially lucky because E. 4th Street is a very easy walk from my office. Maybe TOO easy!Chinato is one of my favorites no matter what time of day it is. I’m super picky about pasta and they never disappoint. One of the best things about Chinato is that they will let you order two half portions of pasta instead of getting just one big plate. For someone like me who can never choose, this is a serious bonus.I like to order one of their pizzas for lunch or at dinner, as an appetizer. They are very thin and really delicious. For pasta, Col Bucco with roasted pork is one of my favorites – the long spiral noodles and hunks of pork are in a rich tomato based sauce. My go to entree is Beef Braised in amarone with bacon polenta and roasted mushrooms. The polenta is killer so even if you don’t order this dish, get a side of it. Desserts constantly change but are always delicious. My latest treat was an orange scented panna cotta. If you don’t work within walking distance, make sure you take advantage of the parking discount program:Pay for your parking at the Valet on E. 4th and they will validate you. Take your ticket back to the Valet to be reimbursed – you only pay $8 instead of the $15 or more. On Friday and Saturday evenings they have a Chinato-only valet on Prospect in front of the restaurant for $8.
Arugula salad, veal breast, and chocolate cake… Very good and convienently located by my hotel! More casual than it looks from outside.
Unexpected but lovely. We planned on going to The Butcher and The Brewer but they had a 2 hour wait. We asked about a few other restaurants in the same area but found an opening at Chinato. We shared an antipasti platter that included a young pecorino with walnut. I had a half portion of the risotto which was delicious. My husband raved about the pork osso buco and my hard-to-impress father-in-law was not impressed. We shared a chocolate hazelnut mousse dessert which was like silk. All in all a delicious, happy accident that I’m glad we found.
High marks. Knowledgable server who knew the menu. Food well prepared and the flavors are well prepared and balanced. not your mom and pop italian food with large plates of comfort food. nice place to have dinner as the restaurant was appointed nicely.great wine list.
