My brother and I were looking to pass some time while our kids were at a concert at CSU. Originally we were wanting to eat at Michael Simon’s Lola, but thank goodness there was a 2hr wait or we would not have gone to the Crossroads and had THE most unbelievably creamy, well rounded and full flavored shrimp and grits in my life! It’s sooo good that I’d be willing to drive 2.5hrs here again just to have this dish. And let me tell you about the service! Out waiter was so nice and very helpful with the menu and recommendations. He said you can’t go wrong with the jambalaya or the shrimp and grits. And our food was delivered to is by one of the chefs. Very nice place. Again, would drive to dine here again!
So not worth the price! Came a few weeks ago to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Made a reservation and specifically told them it was his birthday. When we checked in, the hostess greeted us and acknowledged his birthday and took us inside to a table but must have never mentioned his birthday to our server because he never mentioned it and we never received any birthday dessert as we saw happen to a table a few away. Besides that, the dishes were expensive for the price. I ordered jambalaya with shrimp added. The waiter even double checked that i wanted shrimp and guess what, it came with no shrimp. I waited 15 minutes til he decided to check on us before i could tell him and he did get me shrimp but never even took the dish back to get me a hot version after waiting and nothing on the bill was comped for the error. Food was tasty but not worth the price/portion size and it was not a good birthday dinner.
I Can Not Decide. You decide… We went to House of Blues and the menu felt drastically different. After looking at it for a minute I considered leaving for greener pastures. But we were already there, our kids were going to a concert there later, so I kept mum and we stayed. Our waitress took FOREVER to take our order. We just sat there, drumming our fingers on the table while she did everything under the sun in the nearly empty restaurant besides take our order. She was even clearing plates from multiple tables while their parties were still eating. When we finally got our food it was okay. I ordered a french dip, which was more like a bbq beef sandwich, but it was good, the bread was excellent, and the fries looked blah, but were actually fantastic. My husband had the buttermilk fried chicken, which looked fantastic, but was rather flavorless. The girls each ordered sliders. The pulled pork was so-so, but they both really loved the meatball. Not a great experience, not a terrible one either. There are probably much better options in the area.
Great Service. Good food. Voodoo shrimp and Jambalaya rule. Very impressed with service. Great happy hour
Pleasantly surprised with the food. Great burgers/ sandwiches. Everything was well cooked, fast, nice presentation. Mango horseradIsh was very good. Had a BBQ burger, southwest chicken sandwhich, pulled pork sandwhich, trio of cheese rigatoni. All were great. Definitely goIng back
If you are going to a concert at the HOB, eating here gives you early admission to the event.
