Best chef. Best food in city.
First impression not great!! Friday night at 7pm – no hostess at the door, dirty bar top, that we had to ask to have it wiped down, appetizers just OK, agngry staff, they all seem frustrated, eyes watering from the kitchen smoke near the bar. Not impressed at all, I really hope the entrees are amazing……
Tartar- Best in CLE. Don’t miss the Beef Tartar. It’s the best that I’ve had in Cleveland. Fresh, with great flavor from lemon and capers. The views from this restaurant also can’t be beat- Downtown skyline, bridges, and the river. A great special occasion spot.
Luca – the best Italian in Cleveland. I am a student at Case Western Reserve, originally from the St. Louis area. At home, I have enjoyed some of the best Italian restaurants in the country, and have been to Italy as well. So far, the restaurants in nearby Little Italy have disappointed. I was eager to find a place in Cleveland that could match what I had come to expect from Italian restaurants, and visited Luca with my brother and parents when they visited during Downtown Restaurant Week. Luca was incredible, and actually surpassed some of my favorites from back home. Although we didn’t have reservations (which I would recommend), we were welcomed and seated outside in an enclosed patio. We were not made to feel uncomfortable in the least. My brother and I had the Filetto di Manzo, and both of ours were done perfectly. My parents ordered the Torteloni Vitello, and it was equally good. The service was wonderful as well, and we were never without water or anything else. My brother and I managed to return again during Downtown Restaurant Week, and will certainly be coming back – Luca is our new remedy for homesickness!
I just tried Luca for the first time during restaurant week, and it was beyond amazing. I ordered the pappardelle ala bolognese. It was by far the best bolognese I’ve ever had. The tiramisu was excellent, as well. The wait staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was beautiful. I can’t wait to revisit Luca!
If you’re looking for an elegant or romantic atmosphere you’ve found it at Luca. Among original artwork from michaelangelo, the view of the city is stunning. Luca is not the cheapest place in town, however I do find it to be the most satisfying. The staff is highly trained, Lola is the resident sommelier and also the wife of the owner. She is extremely knowledgeable and very accommodating. Luca Sema whom the restaurant is named after is absolutely fantastic. The dishes are served as works of art and the taste will leave you speechless. Needless to say, I HIGHLY recommend this establishment!
Luca is a great/ beautiful place to eat! You will NOT have a bad meal! The staff is also wonderful!! Very hard working respectful people! Best restaurant in cleveland by far!!!!!
