FINALLY Dim Sum. Living in West Virginia we have ZERO options for Dim Sum, so we went here while on vacation after looking at the online reviews. The Grand Oriental did not disappoint. The staff speaks English and Chinese very fluently which is a plus for our blended family. The food was very good. My three year old liked the sticky rice and egg tarts, while we enjoying multiple samplings. We liked this place so much that we went on both Saturday and Sunday. The only drawback I have is that the ladies only push the carts to your table one time. I am more familiar with the carts rolling around at a consistent pace so you do not have to get all that you want at once.

Great dim sum. My family is fromHuntington, WV. We look for dim sum restaurants all over world. We’ve been going here 25 years. Worth the drive. Our sons are in college nearby and go there. We’ve been taking photos of them on the two lions outside since they were born. The owners,Kenny and Phillip, are so nice.

I ordered the schezuan vegetables. It had a little heat… and overall good flavor. My husband orderes the mandarin beef… very very good. Will definitely be back for dim sum. Love the authentic atmosphere.

We went there for lunch on a Sunday. I or my wife are not fans of Dim Sum so just picked off the menu. I had the general chicken and the wife had sweet and sour. Both dishes had very good quality chicken meat in them and the servings were just right. They aren’t going to score any points for cheap prices but they were fair and I didn’t feel ripped off at all. I would go back again.

A bizarre, disappointing experience. We visited this restaurant once last summer (2011) and we have sort of marked it off of our mental map. We dined in one evening (so this is not another review lauding the dim sum.) In short, the restaurant did not seem to understand service nor food. We were kept waiting forever (~10 minutes) just to sit down – a man who seemed to be the owner finally noticed us. One of the tables up front was a mess with paperwork and financial stuff like someone on staff was doing bookkeeping up there. After we sat down it was still pretty bad, with really slow service. We ordered crab rangoon. The filling was >90% cream cheese with extremely rare flakes of something that was probably crab or maybe vegetables. The owner guy argued with me about the quality of the rangoons and claimed that they were alright. They tasted like a sweet dessert dish, not like a savory appetizer. So their ability to recognize and fix problems is broken. Calling Restaurant Impossible/Kitchen Nightmares, owner is stone deaf to customers! We walked out after paying for a soft drink and a beer, and we went down to Johnny Chan 2’s and had a satisfying dinner.
