Delicious! Flavorful! Fresh!. This true mom and pop place is worth the twenty minute drive! The pop is the only chef now so the dishes have been consistently flavorful; cooked whole-heartedly with fresh, quality ingredients. I’m certainly not the only regular! Lets show them our support and make this place a neighborhood favorite!
As the chef or management changed. I have been going there since 2005 and food that is normally amazing was at best average. Recipes have changed, vegetables and meat were cut differently, sauces tasted bland, even the to go boxes and fortune cookies were different. Another great restaurant bites the dust :(.
I have been having lunch and dinner here at least once per month for over 15 years. The food is always freashly made from fresh ingredients with great skill. This and the amazing sauces keep me coming back. The staff are very professional and attentive. I have been to most of the asian restaurants in the greater Columbus area and I would rank the Hunan Gourmet in the top 10 %.
Great Food Great Atmosphere. Came here for their red curry beef. Yummy. They have the best authentic thai red curry that I have found so far
This is my review of my first experience at Hunan Gourmet. First impression when walking in is the horrid pink pain on the walls. Other than paint color typical Oriental/Asian decor. Staff uniform is very formal for this type of restaurant, but nice to see. My appetizer was the crab rangoons described as having King Crab meat but was nothing different than the typical frozen Rangoon found at a $8.00 buffet. Not worth the $5.95 price. Main course I had the General Tso Chicken. The chicken tasted as if it was fried in very old burnt oil. This was inexcusable, at no time should a restaurant do this. The sauce was good at best. Described as spicy, I ordered extra spicy and it was very mild. I would not recommend this restaurant, for the price and quality I would just go to a buffet. 2 out of 5
This is perhaps the best sit down Chinese place in Columbus. It is worth the drive to the east side. The service is great with friendly and efficient servers. The Thai dishes are super especially the Thai Curry Chicken and Phad Thai. The Seasame Chicken and Triple Delight are wondeful. I have been going for years and never have had a bad experience. Try it!!!
My wife and I had the special last night. Crispy scallops in Thai garlic sauce and the vegetable spring rolls. Everything was delicious and the service was delightful. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the sauce made me salivate.
