Total Package. We took my son here for his fifteenth birthday, with two diners new to Ethiopian, and the whole dinner was a hit. The food was easily the best Ethiopian we’ve had locally, our noobs were impressed, vowing return visits, and positive reviews of their own. Our server was friendly and attentive. Five of us got so stuffed we practically had to be rolled out the door, and we paid less than 50$ for everyone. On that fifty dollar note, we dropped a fifty that was meant to be put in a birthday card. The owner found it, and got it back to us, saving the whole little party. Wonderful food, wonderful staff/management, just a wonderful experience all around. We will definitely be back.

Great Food, Service and Price. We had a wonderful experience at Lalibela. The food was fresh, delicious, and flavorful and the server was extremely polite and friendly. Even dining with two young children, the meal was fantastic. We wish we lived closer; we would be frequent patrons!

Great food, mediocre portions. Stopped in with my family for the first time. Nice restaurant space, with friendly staff. Very good food & inexpensive, but portions were relatively small. It’s the first time I’ve ever left an Ethiopian restaurant with no leftovers…and still hungry. The entrance, with its bar & pool tables is deceptive, as the dining area is in the back. It’s a nice, bright space, and the music and TV noise is very subdued. Waitress was very attentive, and the turn-around time was better than other reviewers had suggested. It probably helped that we arrived early, and the restaurant wasn’t crowded. We started with a large ‘Greek salad’ as an appetizer, expecting a bit of a wait. The salad was visually appealing, but was mostly iceberg lettuce with some thin sliced carrots & potatos, with an interesting mild feta. No olives of any sort, and the dressings were not very distinctive. We also had an Ethiopian beer and an Ethiopian tea, both very good. For the main course, we ordered the Mahberoch plate, basically a combo plate, while our son ordered the Goden tibs, a sauteed rib tips. The Combo plate was very good, but the tibs were a little too charred for my taste. This was partly offset by great sauces that ranged from moderately spicy to flaming spasm. As is the custom in Ethiopian restaurants, everything was put on one large plate covered in injera bread. In other restaurants, the bread was fairly well hidden by all the mains and sides heaped upon it. Not here; there was lots of space between the servings. That was reflected in our eating as well, since the 3 of us polished off everything in less than 15 minutes. We weren’t particularly ravenous; there just wasn’t that much to the servings. Any large party might want to order extra stuff here.

Eat here!. What a surprise! Do not let the decor stop you from missing out on Columbus’s best Ethiopian cuisine. Authentic Ethiopian dishes excellently executed with superb flavors and quality ingredients along with friendly service to boot.

Good, but there are better Ethiopian restaurants in columbus.

Cheap food, fun experience!. I drove past this place 1,000 times without even noticing it before trying it out, and I sure am glad I did!You can receive a meal that’s 3x’s more than you can eat for $6-$8, and the experience is unlike any other restaurant I’ve been to. The menu is bi-lingual, the entire staff and pretty much all of the customers are Ethiopian. If you want a dirt cheap and fun time when going out to dinner this is the place to go. Don’t mind the location, I’ve never had any issues.

Great Ethiopian food, Great for Vegetarians. My wife and I are Indian and vegetarian and we love Ethiopian food having lived in many other cities with top-notch Ethiopian food. When we moved to the Columbus area, we have been on a quest to find our new Ethiopian restaurant. While we have heard of other restaurants in the area, we decided to try this one first based on the rave reviews about the food. The restaurant is located in the Whitehall area. It is located in a strip mall which doesn’t look like much from the outside. All the seating is indoor. As you walk through the door, you notice that there are pool tables and a bar at the front of the restaurant. Don’t be too discouraged as there is a sit down restaurant in the back. This place seems to be a hangout for the local Ethiopians which speaks for how genuine the food should be. The decor in the restaurant area is very simple. This is probably not where you take someone to impress them, unless they are all about the food like us.We ordered the number 10, which is a vegetarian combo plate. It ran about $8 and was more than enough food for two people. The dish was a single injera (Ethiopian bread) with several servings of miser wat (very spicy red lentils), shiro wat (other brown lentils), kik alicha (yellow lentils), collard greens, curried cabbage and salad. The food is similar but different from Indian food which is probably why we love it so much. There are also additional rolls of injera on the plate and more upon request. The waitress was very nice and checked up on us frequently as well as a gentleman who I believe was the owner coming by to make sure we enjoyed the food and asking if we needed anything else.We left very happy with full stomachs and will definitely be coming back for more, and bringing friends to try this great food.
