So disappointed.. Terrible sushi! Apps were good, service was wonderful, but the sushi…I’ve never had worse. Rice was so over-cooked it was more of a solid paste. Rice also had no flavor whatso-ever, as if they had forgotten to add the rice vinegar; it just tasted like watery mush. The rolls we ordered were all very bland, I believe partly because the rice was soo watery. My wife and I are avid sushi eaters and usually will easily down 4-5 smaller rolls and 2-3 jumbo rolls in a sitting. If we can’t quite finish, it always comes home with us to finish later. We only ordered 5 rolls at Lure and left 3 half rolls sitting on the table. Sooo disappointing after hearing good reviews for years. An hour drive each way and a hundred dollar bill for awful sushi does not add up to a happy experience. Sorry Lure, we won’t be back.

Loved it!. Visited Lure early on Saturday evening. One of those rare October nights in Northern Ohio that allowed us to eat outside. I had fish, my dining partner…steak. My favorite was the spinach that was atop my fish. It must have been flash fried….very crispy and a nice surprising texture for spinach. Good service, good food, nice atmosphere. Only downer I could find…..waitress asked what kind of cheese we would like on our salads (bleu, feta or goat). Made our choice, only to find at the end of the meal there was an additional $2.00 per person charge for the cheese…..really $2.00 for a tablespoonful of cheese? Seemed like a cheap trick from a classy place.

More from Horrible Food and Experience. By the way, we have been there several times before and the food and service was very good, enough to merit an hour+ drive from Kent. We never ate on the patio before though, so smokers weren’t a problem those times and the sushi was much better. This sushi this time seemed like it was just thrown together from scraps and onto a plate. Absolutely no presentation or finesse. As said before HORRIBLE!24 Jul, 2013Absolutely Horrible Food AND Experience. 1. 3 different Sushis and all poorly made (not rolled well-fell apart), lacking enough of the featured protein, flavorless and bland. Have had better from grocery store sushi counters 2. Smoking allowed in dining area outside. When seated didn’t see any ashtrays on tables so didn’t even think about it. But not long before smelling cigarette smoke. Complained but told smoking was allowed. Had to move away from group of smokers but even with very windy weather, everything smelled and tasted like cigarettes. Had to change clothes and take showers when returned home to get cigarette smoke out. 3. Waitress was very nice but didn’t know what was on the menu like one of the specials with an unusual name… didn’t know if it was fish, pork, meat and said chef wouldn’t tell her, even after we asked her to ask the chef. We had to look it up on smartphone to see that it was fish. 4. They were out of one of the craft brewed beers that was on the specials menu. One last time: NO SMOKING IN DINING AREA. IT IS TOTALLY GROSS!

Great Food and servers!. This is a perfect restaurant. The ambiance is intimate and cozy. The prices are fair and the food is amazing! Everything was cooked perfectly. Our server Kristina was very attentive and friendly. She made very good wine recommendations for our meals. I will definitely go back again!

Good…not great. I had high expectations for Lure Bistro, after all, it was a romantic anniversary dinner with my wife.We made reservations for 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday night but arrived about an hour early and still we were immediately seated. In fact, only two other tables were occupied. It must have been a slow night as there was no shortage of staff present, waiting for something to do.Our first impression was good. The restaurant appeared clean and well maintained and had a certain appeal to it. Upon further review, the mirrored globes hanging from the ceiling were a bit odd. I wasn’t too fond of the menus. They seemed to fit in better at a cheesy chain seafood restaurant.Lure should have opted for something a bit more elegant.Service was prompt and one of the highlights of the visit. Bill was on the ball with drinks, the specials of the day and was on time with drink refills. We started off with the Lure Rolls, six pieces of crab, avocado and cream cheese sushi. My wife ordered the Duck Carbonara Linguini and I ordered the Lobster Thermidor.First, my wife was a bit disappointed in her dish. She expected something along the lines of a duck breast with a side of linguini but instead received a dish of linguini with bits of duck folded into the mix. That’s really on us, but I think the menu could have been more descriptive. She was pleased with the taste and the portion of her meal.My first bite of the Lobster Thermidor, a roasted lobster tail stuffed with blue crap and served with Lobster Newburg sauce. The Newburg sauce was overwhelmed by the mustard. It really was too strong for a lobster dish. I wanted to taste the sweetness of the lobster and crab, but instead got the taste of a hot dog with Stadium Mustard. In addition to the lobster tail the dish included one lobster claw.I’d have been better off ordering the special, which included two lobster tails for $31. Instead, I opted for the Lobster Thermidor for $26 and ended up with a couple forks of crab meat and a small lobster tail and claw. I was a bit disappointed in that, but overall the dish satisfied. We topped off dinner with a shared Dark Chocolate Mousse. It was delicious…and fortunately a bit too rich for my wife, so I had the largest portion.Lure offers Downtown Willoughby diners a bit of elegance and some dishes outside the box at an affordable price. It wasn’t spectacular, but Lure Bistro earned a solid B-.
