Perfect road trip dessert. The mango sorbet was awesome.
Ice Cream the best about Tom’s. This place has been written up in USA Today and other national publications. It’s an old-school ice cream parlor that hasn’t changed since the 50’s. Noisy crowded atmosphere. They did finally update the lighting recently, as originally it was unsightly and dusty bare bulbs. The food is typical plain Sysco Food supplier variety, so if you like diner food, fine, but really, it’s not that great. Very young waitstaff is mediocre at best. My suggestion is that if you want to go, have a nice sit down meal somewhere else and then stop at Tom’s for dessert. Don’t drive two hours out of your way just to visit here.
Set the Way Back Machine for 1955. This place really lives up to its billing! The small sundaes are NOT small, so you definitely get a bang for your buck. The service was great, and their rib eye sandwich was tasty, especially for the price. The ice cream and the toppings are all fresh and homemade, and the place is very clean, even though the store and the furniture looks like it’s straight out of the 1950s. The entire staff is even dressed to look the part…so stop in an maybe George McFly will drop in after school 🙂
Have been to a few on the list. Toms has the feal of true retro. ice cream the way they serve is over the Top. Food is good with retro price and portion. Service is speedy and fun to watch. They aim to please. yumm
Old time atmosphere & good ice cream. I’ve been here twice, and the place reminds me of something you’d see in an old Florida town from the 1950’s. Well preserved interior and very clean. I like the ice cream shakes. The service is a bit spotty with inattentive teenage employees, but they’re all nice nonetheless.
THE milkshake to compare all others to. I’ve been eating here for 45 years and have always compared all other shakes to Tom’s and theirs still comes out on top. The place never changes, like stepping back in time. Great: Prices, ice cream, chocolate, fresh hot nuts, fast friendly service. It should still be rated as one of the top 10 Ice Cream Parlors in the country.
I have been going to Tom’s since I was a kid so that makes it 50+ years. It is a great atmosphere not only for ice cream bowls but also for milkshakes, malts, phosphates and sodas. The staff are always friendly and make you feel at home.
