This is a wonderful place. Awesome atmosphere, some of the best food I’ve had in a really long time! I had blackened lobster tail, it was perfect! I recommend this place for anyone who wants a great place to sit and have a quality meal, with spectacular people! And the gift shop has some of the most unique gifts! A total must!! Can’t wait to go back!
I went for my wife’s birthday. We started out with a appetizer of fried mushrooms. What I enjoyed was that they weren’t softball sized bread. It allowed more taste for the mushroom. I had a house salad with a light dressing. It wasn’t a fancy salad but it wasn’t bad either. I had the Halibut which was very def overpriced for what it was.I have eaten at Bodeans, and I know that is a hard comparison but we have to compare pricey fish. It was good, but not what it was priced.I will say that I loved the atmosphere. It wasn’t anywhere close to what people think when they go to a higher priced restaurant. It was very rustic. Heck, there is a picture of Bill and Hillary when they were younger. I feel like I went into the woods of nowhere. However, that is what made it cool. You could dress up or wear a shirt. It was fine. I was dressed nice, but didn’t feel like I overdressed. The menu’s were very cool. The cover was metal. I hear the steaks are solid but unsure about the fish. It was known for the steak. I shouldn’t complain too much. There was a pretty solid wine selection. We had fun! With what I heard from the other 3 people at the table,I recommend the steaks. The dessert (peach cobbler) wasn’t so hot. It looked very generic across the table.
The fillet was the best steak I’ve ever had!
The good, the bad, and the ugly.. I love this place and keep thinking I’ve just had a bad experience and go back. But for these prices one should usually have a great experience.Took my son and his girlfriend for his birthday in August of ’14, and spent a little over $300 for four of us. Son and I had rib eyes, thin and overcooked. I know that we should have sent them back, but they weren’t bad, just more Lone Star or Outback quality. Wife and girlfriend’s prawns and rice were excellent. Bread and appetizer were good. Service was excellent.Just took wife for birthday, Jan of ’15, both sons and their girlfriends came along (separate checks!) Wife and one girlfriend had prawns and rice which they said were excellent. All three men had assorted fish dishes, having been disappointed by steaks before. Girlfriend had rib eye and quail. The Halibut, Mahi Mahi and Salmon from three separate plates was way overcooked and barely seasoned. The quail, rib eye and potatoes au gratin plate was sent back after arriving very cold. Second try, the quail and potatoes were very good, but the rib eye was over done.Again the appetizer and bread were excellent. Also, the service was efficient, friendly and helpful.Molly’s has always been a little pricy, not Fleming’s or Mahogany pricy, but pricy. However, they used to have pretty decent steaks and fish. Shrimp has been and is still very good. Appetizers and bread serving are still excellent. The location is picturesque, the atmosphere is eclectic and fun. But, unless you want shrimp and appetizers, I just can’t recommend it.
Worst Seafood Ever!. My first time in this restaurant and it looked good on the website that I didn’t mind the price was a little bit expensive because I was thinking this could be very good food. Turns out wrong!!! Their Mahi-Mahi was like marinated the whole day with salt. It was too salty and too bland! Nothing on my plate but salty fish and some fake rice. There were no other sides. And worst it took them an hour to serve the food. The place was nice I give them that but the food was not deserving of the price! I do not know what their specialty is but they are so far off the seafood scale if you compare them to bonefish or fish daddy’s. It’s better if they just take them off their menu if they can only do good with their steak.
Poor customer service. This was a favorite place of mine for a long time. Date nights, anniversary, birthday, etc. They treated my mother aweful. We went for her birthday dinner (they have a special list & you get a birthday discount) & they said her name had been removed. We’ve gone for over 10 years & never had this issue before! They refused to let us sit at a table that is VERY IMPORTANT to my father. Instead of honoring the discount after we told them how long we’ve coming, they let us leave without even an apology. When I called the manager the next day, to my surprise, he was a complete jerk. Never apologized for the previous night, said if we were on the list before that we wouldn’t be taken off, and told her since I came for was the discount he didn’t mind to losing my business! I’m sad we won’t be returning but this service is unacceptable. Especially when so many of us go throughout the year multiple times- there are 7 kids, each married. We all go there for dates & etc. As well as take our friends. No longer, and if they’re ok with that, I’d say your business won’t matter to them either!
Can’t wait to go again!. My husband and I have wanted to go check this place out for a long time. The outside has a somewhat magical feel to it and is well kept. Our waitress was new and it took her a few minutes before she approached us. I ordered a carafe of Chardonnay and it was pretty tasty. The fried mushroom appetizer was very good, tasted a little like Hideaway Pizzas. Our salads were great, the Parmesan Peppercorn dressing is a huge standout and I am now obsessed with making my own. The bread basket was yummy, the sourdough was my absolute favorite, and the butter tasted housemade. My husband ordered the surf and turf and he couldn’t stop complimenting the steak. I did try a bite of his lobster and it was perfection! I ordered the fresh fish sampler which included your pick of 2 fresh fishes. I ordered the mahi mahi and the halibut. They were good, but the portions were incredibly small considering the price. We both got baked potatoes and they were really great. When the waitress asked if we had room for dessert, we both laughed and said no way. We did order peach cobbler and the white chocolate cheesecake to go though. The cheesecake was some of the best I’ve ever had, very rich and dense. The prices were a little high, but nothing too unreasonable. Can’t wait to go back again!
