  Dinnerat Applebees in Enid, OK, 5-9-2016 Itook my adult granddaughter to Applebees for the $6.95 hamburger special atabout 6:00 pm. We had no problem getting seated. By the way, the place has newseating at the tables. The old seating was sometimes a thrill ride that topoorly maintained wooden seats. The waiter got the menus to us as we wereseated and took our drink orders. This, unfortunately, was to be the high pointof the evening. In mostcases there is flatware on the tables. A table with three people at it wasacross the aisle from us. They also were lacking any kind of serving utensils. Thethree of them got their entrees prior to our drinks arriving. One of the peopleasked for silverware. The waiter, our waiter, took off and headed back to retrievethe missing utensils. A different waitressbrought us our drinks. Unsweet tea for me and a soft drink for the granddaughter.No flatware, no straws and no napkins. After about ten minutesthe waiter returned to the table of three with one set of utensils. The twoother people had to ask for flatware for themselves. Prior to getting theutensils for them, he took our dinner order. Two of the burgers, one with sweetpotato fries and one with Applebees normal fries. I also asked for flatware,because I had nothing to stir sweetener into the tea. This was not that big aproblem yet because we did not have any sweetener on the table either. I madecertain he knew I wanted sweetener and the granddaughter asked for a straw forher soft drink. Off he went to fulfill the wishes of both tables.Sometime later hereturned with flatware for our table, the table with two folks watching theirdinners cool down and one straw. When I opened the rolled up napkin bundleplaced on our table I found soiled flatware for two. Both knives and one forkstill had food residue on them. The napkins had food stains on it. I called ourhero back and asked for something not pre-soiled. He apologized and went backto the waiters station near the exit door. He had remembered the sweetener, soI added some of the pink stuff to my drink and then shook the glass to dispersethe granules. We are back to the one straw and no usable utensils here.I watched the waiterpolishing what I sincerely hope was fresh flatware. Within a few seconds he wasback with clean napkins and reasonably clean flatware. Entrees arrived and werewhat we had ordered. Always a pleasant surprise at this establishment. Thesweet potato fries, which came with a surcharge, were about half of the amountas the regular fries.Just after the entreesgot there a manager showed up asking how our service was. Now I was willing towrite this off as yet another dismal dining adventure in Enid. What happenednext was what tipped me to writing this review. The manager, after hearingabout the series of blunders and missteps of the visit, said she would do somethingabout it. My Granddaughter mentioned that I blog about dining. The manager thenprofusely apologized and promised to take care of it. I mistakenly assumed thatshe was going to give us a discount or something. It seems what she meant waspossibly a stern glance at the waiter.The check was for thefull amount and we never saw the manager again.I wasnt looking to get adiscount. And, if she had not shown up and asked about our meal, I wouldnthave written this. But to imply, after finding out about a bad service, thatyou were going to do something and then disappear is bad form. I dont expectmuch from Applebees here in Enid. There are only a few dining places that areeven adequate in this town and they all know it is their place or no place. So theydont make much of an effort to give service that could be construed aspassable in a bigger town. But, as usual, Applebees went out of their way tomake sure their customers know their place.

  Service. Ive been here a lot just here the other day for lunch best bartender in enid awasome waitress. And the food was great nice to see its coming back around06 May, 2015Service. Our waitress Stephanie was awsome bar tender callie hope i spelled it right had made the best drinks i have ever had. Food is great steak a lil over cooked not vad i ordered rare. The French onion soup best ive had since i ate at the elephant bar in okc

  Not so good. The service is okay, but the food is not good. Applebee’s is not my favorite restaurant anyways, but this one is not one of the better ones. I got the napa chicken and portobellos. The chicken was tough and the mushrooms were burnt. The presentation was sloppy, too. Not impressed.

  To-go service was a bit sloppy. Tasty, but not set up to go. The veggies on my sandwich were soggy because of the BBQ sauce. One of those items should have been on the side until I got home and was ready to eat. But, all-in-all, not bad.

  Poor Chili’s Imitation. The only reason to go here is if the wait is too long at Chili’s next door. I have never been a big fan of Applebee’s. To me it seems like a more expensive imitation of Chili’s with cheaper tasting food.If you HAVE to eat here for some reason, the Asiago Peppercorn Steak and the Grilled Chicken and Portobellos are decent, and they are under 550 calories.However, with Chili’s and El Chico next door, you can find better food.
