Bad food, even worse service. I have been to blu one other time and the food was fine but service was bad. My recent visit revealed that the food has shrunk to the level of the service. Despite being half full on an ArtWalk night, we waited forever for any server contact and then she would disappear for long periods of time. The crab cake was ok, but not worth the lofty price (it’s a share appetizer menu – so sharing one crab cake?). The Chicken and Risotto was cooked to a texture of a hockey puck but the brussell sprouts were barely cooked at all. My dinner companion had the burger, which was also cooked well done and was very dry. My companion was here from another country and this was his first dining out experience in Oklahoma. I was so embarrassed. What a bad representation of Norman, OK.
Please get a better chef!. Blu has been a family favorite ever since we moved to Norman seven years ago, when our realtor took us there for lunch. However, our visit last evening was very different. We have always ordered and loved the calamari. The familiar breaded and tender-enough-to-cut-with-a-fork calamari is now floured and deep-fried to a dark brown. Needless to say, it was also rubbery. Then, the chef took a perfectly beautiful piece of sea bass and baked it to a very dark brown. In fact, the bottom was charred black. On the thicker filet, the black bottom had been cut away. The wait was rather long for both appetizer and food, which would usually not be a complaint because the atmosphere is very pleasant and the food usually worth the wait. I sincerely hope the quality of food will return to it’s prior excellent level. We will probably give it one more try, for posterity sake, before striking it from our Norman restaurant list.
Hipster BS, horrible service, bland food: what can I say, if you want to be surrounded by obnoxious hipsters, horrible service by vapid waitresses, and overpriced/bland food then this is your place. Luckily, if you do have the misfortune of being in this joint, they have a decent booze selection that is moderately priced so you can get all boozed up and forget about the hell you find yourself in.
Poor Customer Service. This was my second time going to Blu today and I have to say I am extremely disappointed in the customer service my friends and I received. The waitress was very friendly and informative about the menu, so I have no complaints about that. During the course of the evening she fell on the tile floor right by the entrance and she dropped the two drinks she had on the tray. After a few minutes she came back to our table with band aids all over her hands and a large piece of gauze over her knee. While she was taking away our food, she dropped some of it on one of my friend. She apologized profusely and offered a warm towel for my friend’s shirt, so I still have no complaints about the waitress. However, the person who I would assume to be the manager did not send the poor girl home even though she had fallen and her knee had started to bleed through the bandage. They also did not even come to check on our table after the food had been spilled on someone. No apologies, no concern, and careless about the staff. I will not be visiting Blu anytime again soon.
Service was TERRIBLE! I am a frequent diner here and I even attend the wine tastings occasionally! I was extremely disappointed in my most recent visit to Blu! Upon my arrival I spoke with the server and she assured me the kitchen was still open although I arrived a quarter until kitchen closing time! She took my food and drink order… After taking my food and drink order she came back to the table to ask for ID (which should have been done at the time of taking the liquor order) after I noticed I left my ID at home after making a 45 min drive just to dine at Blu I was understanding because of my mistake! The server then comes back and says my order cannot be accommodated because it’s after 1… As stated in the beginning I was seated at approx 12:45 and asked server if I could order food! I’m pretty sure my order wasn’t put into the computer once I placed my order because if it had been the kitchen would’ve received the order well before closing time! Not only that according to my watch it was 12:57 and the kitchen had already shut down! I totally understand the inconvenience this May have caused but I would’ve rather the server informed me of the kitchen closing early or when I placed the call before making such a drive that something like this would happen! My fianc made plans to dine at Blu for valentines day because of the wonderful offer but due to this experience I asked him not to bring me that night and for that matter I asked him to never bring me there again! I hate that 1 experience has completely ruined it for us seeing as how we frequent there and make the drive often to dine! We were very displeased! Hopefully something can be done about such a matter!
Good pulled pork quesadilla but bbq chicken pizza was a let down. Crust bubbled up on sides so far that only a bite of actual pizza! Mostly all dry crust! Waitress took our leftover pizza to box up but brought out our ticket and forgot pizza. Took forever to get check and even longer to bring back to sign.
The wine selection here was great! They had a lot of options that aren’t the normal brands you see in restaurants. The flights of wine are a great way to try different kinds. I also had the fish tacos. They were good but nothing too unique. The service was a little slow but I believe it was becuase there was a big wine dinner going on in the dining room.
