Went again after a friend reported that they now have the ability to sell chicken and other item combos. Had the chicken tender and jumbo shrimp combo with fries and macaroni salad. As expected it was wonderful. Rerated as 4.0They are cash only BTW.============================The food is indeed good. The logistics of ordering a chicken dinner is incredibly painful and expensive. Rated 1.5 but would rate 4.0 if they would accommodate reasonable customer requests.Ok, I get the Cajun Catfish in the name. But they have chicken tenders on the menu. One would think, with both chicken and catfish available, that there would be a way to get chicken substituted for catfish. They have a good selection of combo dinners – all of which are catfish based. So it should be reasonable for those that don’t care for the popular mercury vacuuming bottom feeder to substitute chicken – at a premium if necessary.Nope, if you want chicken they forbid you to order any combo. It is ala cart chicken tenders or no chicken for you. Once you order the tenders you can add a single chicken wing for $1.20 or a single shrimp for $3.20. If you want some sides like potato salad, that must be added from the ala cart menu too.The 1 rating is solely due to their inability to produce anything but a catfish based dinner. Even Long John Silvers allows substitutions. My order taker explained to me that they don’t allow substitutions – no doubt it is too taxing on the help.If you are by yourself and craving catfish you will be pleased with this place. If you have folks in your group who don’t want catfish then DO NOT GO HERE as they will not be allowed to order meals.
Is it real catfish or swai i have yet to find real catfish lately only swai which tastes like a fried scallop with a snot ball texture
Food Wasn’t as Good as Expected. I tried a plate of jambalya. Basically nothing but spice rice with a little sausage. Definitely not genuine Cajun.
Great catfish. Having work at the nearby Air Force base, I frequently get lunch here. The catfish and sides are very good. I have always got lunch to go and have not dined in, nor do I want to. Not the cleanest looking place in town. It is a family run business so it closes a few weeks out of the year for vacations, which is what I would do too. I recommend the catfish, fried okra and slaw. Mmmmm. Reasonable prices too.
Good Catfish. 3.7 – 5 Just because the catfish is that good. Otherwise I would have given it a lower rating due to other factors such as cleanliness. I’ve been here three times and have gotten the catfish every time…always excellent taste. It is prepared exactly like my father in law used to fix catfish…lightly battered with excellent taste. The fish is really good in quality. I’ve tried the red beans and rice, and greens, both were good as well. I did try the frog legs and they were pretty bad…I won’t order those again. The place is a little hole in the wall which is what I look for but the interior is really dirty at times. Likes: CATFISH!, sides and price. Dislikes: Cash only, Cleanliness, frog legs, atmosphere.
Never Open. I think the food is good, but I have given up on this restaurant. These guys are never open!!!! The last 5 times I have tried to eat there during their posted hours they weren’t open. It doesn’t seem to matter if it is during the week or the weekend. If you want to run a successful business you have to go to work. Either hire some employees or work harder. There is a reason this place looks like a dump even though people like the food. This place might end up being the best restaurant I’ve ever eaten at that is doomed to fail. Good luck eating here.
CASH ONLY. I forgot to mention that Casey’s only takes Cash, sorry no checks and no debit or credit cards.FYI12 Dec, 2013Diamond in the rough. Caseys Cajun Fried Catfish is defiantly a diamond in the rough. I dont really venture off into the Midwest City area, but I am glad my cousin invited me there for lunch. The dcor was very homely. I was very surprised at the menu selection and the affordable prices. I am all about getting a boat load of food for cheap and reasonable prices. Truly there would have to be a catch, the only catch was that the food was off the chain great. For starters I chose the catfish, shrimp, 1 one frog leg and Cajun hot wings, green/cabbage mix, gumbo, hush puppies & a homemade apple pie. Yes I was hungry and got my monies worth. The fish was really catfish; nowadays restaurants are starting to cut corners and use fish that is not actual catfish. The catfish was seasoned and the basket had a generous amount. I really liked the signature batter on the shrimp. The frog legs were cooked perfectly, yes frog legs its like eating chicken or rabbit. The Cajun hot wings had the right amount of spice. The hushpuppies were golden brown I could have eaten about ten of those. Now on to the sides; the greens were mixed greens with cabbage with pork and secret spices,( yaaaasssss honey) these greens are some of the best in the city. Now on to the authentic Creole Cajun gumbo, no seasonings were needed as well. The apple pie was homemade and you could taste the love in this dessert. Caseys Cajun Fried Catfish & Seafood is my favorite place to eat in Midwest City.
