Try the shrimp a la mantaquilla, decadent butter/garlic sauce, AMAZING! The cheese sauce is bland, the salsa has some zip. Our waitress didn’t speak english but was very sweet and made herself understood to us. Will DEFINITELY go back, it was great!
Didn’t Stay. Went for lunch to try it out. Stood for a while in doorway as was never acknowledged. Finally just chose a table nad asked waitress if it was ok to just sit. Got a nod. Delivered menus that were fully wriiten in Spanish– which is fine because I can read Spanish– waitress came around and took our drink order. Drinks were brought, but were wrong. When told of mistake, waitress rolled her eyes and stormed off to make the correction. Prices were pretty expensive compared to other similar restaurants. We told waitress we werent ready to order yet, and got another eye roll. Feeling uncomfortable… we decided to pay for our drinks and leave. Will not return.
Didn’t stay. We went into the restaurant for dinner. There was one table occupied and no other customers. The waitress was very slow coming to seat us and seemed reluctant to do so. We ordered water for our drinks and she responded that they had no water. I hope she meant that they didn’t serve water as a drink not that the restaurant had no water. We left.
So disappointed I’m writing the review right from the table. The complimentary chips are good and fresh, but the salsa thin and onion-y. The queso is a thick, orange ballpark nacho cheese from a can. I had the chicken burrito, which was a big tortilla smeared with refried beans and stuffed with chicken and Spanish-style rice. The chicken inside did not appear to be seasoned and while the burrito overall wasn’t terrible, it certainly wasn’t good. My date had the shrimp cocktail… The shrimp weren’t de-veined and the sauce they were floating in was very watery. Date reports that the cocktail didn’t taste clean and was flavorless and stopped eating after a couple of bites. Won’t be back here.
A real surprise. This is a Mexican restaurant where the majority of customers are Mexican — a great sign. The service is the weakest part but the food was astounding. I had shrimp in a green sauce and I was stunned by how delicious the meal was. One of the quirkiest parts of the place is the handful of of hot sauces that adorn the table. Really a cool touch. If the waitresses can get their act together, this place could be a real winner.
Took 30 minutes to get a burrito and taco. Food was okay but nothing great. Won’t be making a trip back.
