I have never had problems here nor at any of their locations. Enroute accessibility is their greatest selling point.Iron Skillet is a 24 hour restaurant located in a large truck stop. That truck stop is colocated with other large truck stops. This means you can bet on several things. First, that they service the food needs of truckers 24/7. Truckers are not known for eating 5-star cuisine on the road. Nor are they known for accepting crap food. They can and do go elsewhere if their needs are not met.In this case, Iron Skillet serves grill items like steaks, burgers, and breakfast at all times. They also offer a decent buffet of primarily comfort food items until 2200 daily. Iron Skillet serves reasonable steaks. Their soups are good as well. Service is a bit variable but usually reasonably prompt. …And the skillet platters and bowels are Statesmetal not Iron.Second, they have plenty of parking. Third, there is likely stuff (drugs, lot-lizards, etc – just like your big lot local Walmart/K-mart/whatever) activity occurring at the periphery of the lots where it is poorly lit and relatively untrafficed. Generally out of view of the cameras. This is your hint to park your automobile near the restaurant in the well lit automobile spaces that surround it. The owners don’t want incidents and those folks know that the best way to piss off the management is to cause problems for non-truckers because they usually report it to law enforcement and the politicians. The second is to annoy truckers stopping for fuel, food, and showers. Those folks may report problems, but many have their own ways of handling it which usually creates bad publicity and word of mouth. In addition, their offices have 18 wheels and are very mobile. So the take away is that food is always available, that it is pretty good but not showy, you should park up by the restaurant and act like a reasonable human being. They will feed you and you will leave full and happy.

Unsavory part of town. I’m sure the people at the Iron Skillet are upstanding individuals, but this restaurant is part of a truck stop considerably removed from the actual Medical Community and in an area that is among the most unsavory in Oklahoma City. From personal experience as a police reporter and in the district attorney’s office, I can say this intersection has been a hotbed of drug dealing, prostitution and even murder for the past 35 years. I would not want anyone I care about to rent a room in the area, eat here, or even fill up with gas.
