Just celebrated my birthday with 16 family and friends at Patrono’s. Everything was perfect. The food was excellent, the wine choices were perfectly paired and the wait staff did a beautiful job. Many thanks to Brian, Dette, Robert and all.

My husband and I wanted to eat downtown before The Illusionist Show at the Civic Center. We had heard of this restaurant opening and thought this would be a great night to try it out. We had reservations at 6pm. We arrived on time and were promptly seated. At that time, there was only a handful of people in the place but by the time we placed our order the restaurant filled up. The Manager was very friendly and welcoming. The decor is nice and the restaurant is small but functional. We decided to order an appetizer, the house salad, and entree to split. The food was good and very tasty. It came out hot and did not need any seasoning. We had the Salt Cod Potato Cake, Patrono House Salad and the special, Veal Shank with Risotto. The only down side to this place, and the reason for the low review was the service. Our server barely stopped by our table. She had friends in the restaurant and was busy paying more attention to them than her other tables. Also, our food took a long time to come out. When you see people getting food before you that came in after you, it puts a bad taste in your mouth. It was a good thing we ordered an appetizer and salad because our main entree took 40 minutes to come to the table. When we inquired about the long wait, the manager stated that the dish we ordered was a longer preparation. I don’t understand why this was never mentioned when we were ordering or the 5-10 times our waitress blew by our table. It is hard to find a reason for a return trip when you have bad service. We may try this place again but it will not be in the near future.

At long last, real Italian food in OKC! Patrono is a real treat. The squid and octopus appetizer had an excellent grilled flavor and was served with chickpeas, scallions, and cherry tomatoes. Although a bit dry, the flavors were excellent and all was forgiven after I drizzled it with a bit of olive oil. The cured meat antipasto was outstanding and the pasta dishes were served perfectly al dente (firm)–the bucatini al amitriciana was mildly spicy with chewy bits of guanciale for just the right amount of saltiness and the linguine with clams was incredible, already flavored with sufficient parmesan cheese, requiring only some freshly cracked pepper to reach perfection. The olive oil cake for dessert was a great cap to the evening. In addition, we enjoyed tasting Italian wines we’d never heard of before. My only concern was the limited menu, particularly the meat and seafood options in the secundi piatti, but I anticipate the choices will grow over time. In tutto, mi piace molto Patrono! I can’t wait to return!

Cozy Italian. Homemade pasta. Various cheese and meats for appetizers. Spaghetti Puttanesca was fantastic with tomato, garlic, hot pepper, capers, anchovies, olives and oregano ($16). Mamma mia! It was absolutely heavenly. Lovely selection of Italian wines too. The chef, manager and waiters all friendly and attentive. Ciao!!
