The food is very good here. The only issue I have had is there are a few of the cooks that are probably thinking they are helping the food by adding way toooo much butter and sauce to everything even the vegetables. Last time I left I felt terrible because everything was covered in slabs and slabs of butter so much you cant taste your food.
We went to Lunch at SUMO II and it was surprisingly great! The fried rice is amazing and they cooked my steak perfectly. The chef was fun and engaging and all the food was very flavorful. I was skeptical because it wasn’t very busy, but it was really good. They have $7.99 lunch special with steak and it was so good. Try this place if you can. It is really good. I had a friend go to dinner there and she said it was great at dinner to. Give this restaurant a try. You will be happy you did.
Weve been here a lot and always have good food. The service is good also. It is not the most aesthetic place, but I would rather have good food than a good decor.
I’ve tried several of the Japanese hibachi style restaurants, including the big names, but I like Sumo II best! The portions were good sized, the ingredients seemed fresher, and the preparation didn’t leave everything super oily or greasy, which seems to be a common problem. They didn’t try to cram two more chairs/people than would fit at a table like the other places and the chef was engaging and had some new tricks up his sleeve. Plus it’s the only place that paid attention to my dining partner’s dietary restriction and got everything right. More attention from the drink/server would have been appreciated, but overall a great experience.
Ate there on a Sunday eveningAtmosphere : good. Several dinning tables and more than 4 hibachi tables. Decor and lighting same as YamatoDrink Service: Excellent, drink was always full. Nice bar selection.Food service: Excellent, Ate a hibachi dinner. Filet was cooked to order and shrimp was fresh. Hibachi cook was entertaining and did most of the standard tricks. The food quality at Yamato was poor before it closed. Sumo II has risen from the ashes and the Hibachi is worth a try.
Extremely pleased with my experience. Food was excellent and the service was perfect. Nice and clean restaurant. Definitely will visit again.
Just moved to this side of town and tried this place out. It was better than expected. We were greeted with the strong smell of fish when we walked in which is sometimes a bad sign. The hubs and I both ordered a sushi roll and had the hibachi. Sushi was ok. I had the volcano and hubs had a California roll. Hibachi was great. Hubs had the chicken and I had the sole both with fried rice which was amazing. The cook was pretty good and even did a few tricks we hadn’t seen before and we’ve been to quite a few of these places. At the end of the meal they served rainbow sorbet which was a nice refreshing surprise. We will return.
