Fried catfish was flavorless and the fries were cold and soggy. The dish came with one hushpuppy and maybe an ounce of tartar sauce. Very slow service for the restaurant being almost empty. Very poor representation of Cajun Cuisine. The entire restaurant had an almost unbearable odor of old seafood and garbage. I’m out!…
Being from Louisiana, I’ve had a lot of great seafood. The Shack just didn’t measure up to my expectations. It was packed, so there must be a lot of people that are more impressed than me. I ordered the stuffed snapper. It seemed appropriate since I had just had excellent snapper at The Drake. The snapper at The Shack was not comparable. I would not order it again. It was super fishy and the green beans weren’t cooked enough. My husband got the crawfish half and half and my dad ordered the crawfish boil. The crawfish boil might be good if you haven’t had true southern crawfish. The crawfish were small and the portion was lacking compared to the price. I don’t think we would return.
The menu looks good but the service sucked it took a long time for us to get our food in the restaurant was pretty much empty. Or call back in a couple days later to ask about you and the manager didn’t even know what the item was it says Okey mountain oysters on the menu and nobody in their new what they were.
I ordered the Oyster Remoulade and The Shack Grilled Seafood Platter. The food here is so salty that it detracts from the experience of eating seafood to begin with. I wasn’t even able to finish my catfish because it was comparable to overly salted fries from a fast food restaurant. Considering the pricing on top of this, I’m surprised people eat here on a continual basis. There are better places for less.
I’ve had great service any time I’ve been here. My dad is a Cajun food nut and really enjoys this place when he’s in town. I had the Pasta Orleans last night with sausage and chicken and it was very good. They do have a brunch menu and I think this is one of the better restaurants in the Quail Springs area.
Stopped by The Shack after a lousy experience at Red Lobster where we had to leave because of dirty silverware — what a refreshing classy lunch we had!I had the blackened chicken breast which was the tenderest I’ve ever tasted and was seasoned to perfection along with red beans and rice.My wife had the lobster bisque which was fabulous. We agreed Red Lobster is now off the list. Thank you for great service a fun time and quality food we will be back!
Walked in for the first time and the hostess was very rude and lacked social skills. I ordered the Broiled Captain’s Platter and was under the impression from its description and high price that I would be getting a large portion of food. I was proven wrong when I finally recieved my order after almost an hour of waiting (they were not busy at all, I was one of the few customers that they had). My order would have been given to me earlier, but for some odd reason it was placed by the bartender…I am guessing that communication is not a strong point at this establishment. Back to the food, the portion was extremely small for the price I had paid and the description of it in the menu. I felt cheated and no where near satisfied with the quality of the seafood. The single oyster I was given had an unsettling taste, the few shrimps were mediocre, and the three measly sprigs of asparagus on the side did not help this sorry excuse for seafood. I would rather spend my money at Long John Silver’s instead of this ridiculous restaurant. Don’t know how they are still in business.
