This restaurant is not only really good, the prices are extremely reasonable. So, it burns me up when I go to a place like this and find it one quarter full while a dang Olive Garden is packing them in just a few feet away. People of Stillwater, wake up. I don’t live in your city, but you have a great locally owned Italian restaurant to go to. They even have fantastic bread with your meal. I’d sleep better knowing more people bypassed the OG and supported DaVinci’s. Next time I’m in town I will definitely be back.
Conflicted….overall it’s a good place to go, but not my favorite.
Amazing food, but don’t come on off hours!. DaVinci’s has been a personal favorite of my fiance’s and mine since we moved to Stillwater, and I will continue to go there whenever I’m in the mood for good Italian. My only complaint is that they often serve stale rolls during off-hours, and of course, because there is no lunch or dinner rush, meals come at a bit slower pace than I would prefer. Let me clarify that when I say stale rolls, I mean that it’s bread that’s obviously been sitting in a warming bin for too long and is tough and chewy, nothing like the Delicious rolls they serve you when they’re made fresh. If you can tolerate chewy rolls and a slightly longer wait, it’s not a big deal.On a more positive note, why is this place better than Olive Garden? Simple: NO FROZEN OR PRE-PACKAGED MEAT. Olive Garden consistently serves chicken that has obviously been shaped, pre-cooked, then frozen. They’re dishes are often too garlic-smothered, and so salty that you’d need ten gallons of water just to re-hydrate yourself afterwards. On the opposite side of the spectrum, DaVinci’s food is reasonably priced, has fresh meat that is of way better quality, and they use real cream and traditional Italian recipes for their sauces (definitely none of that bottled and heated crap). While I cannot vouch for their Marinara dishes (I hate spaghetti and anything with Marinara) every other dish I’ve tried there has been astounding! Even during a dinner rush, the food was made perfectly. (They have their best service when they’re busy, surprise surprise!) On a final note, because all cream sauces are homemade, re-heating your leftovers in the microwave separates the oil and cream, causing the sauce to look almost curdled and of course, oily. so unless you want to spend the time to slowly re-heat your pasta dish in a saucepan, it’s not worth it to bring home any leftovers. (Sorry) For anyone looking for a good Italian place here in Stillwater, I will stress that DaVinci’s, even with its few faults, is the best Italian restaurant in Stillwater. 100%.
Quality Taste. Me and my wife came here on our Anniversary . And we ordered the Shrimp special they had that night. And it was absolutley. The servise was uncanny! Everyone was polite . The owner greeted us personally . We will be back for more soon!
There’s a reason this place survives with an olive garden next door. By far the best Italian in Stillwater! The eggplant dishes are fantastic, the calzone is huge, and the spaghetti is fabulous!
I have always had a good experience except today. Me and my boyfriend eat here at least 3 times a week and we often have the same man as our waiter. Today he informed me that I didn’t tip enough and that HE COULDN’T PAY HIS RENT WITH NO TIP!!!! I feel very strongly about this. It is not my job to pay your rent. That is why you work. On top of it all he sat my change on the counter and waited until my boyfriend walked outside to say anything. The most disrespectful experience I have ever had! !! $
We had heard great things about DaVinci’s from friends. So, when we had friends in from Ireland, we decided to try it out. It was rather disappointing. I make far superior Italian food with much more quality ingredients. Our appetizers were mediocre. I ordered the linguini with clams and it was absolutely terrible. I am fairly certain the clams came out of a can. The pasta was not that bad but I would prefer a good homemade pasta. The sauce was very runny, I can only assume that was from the juice that was in the canned clams. The service was adequate but unfortunately the food was not. We have no intention of ever returning.
