Stopped in here for lunch with friends. We tried the table side guacamole. It was really good. I tried the club quesadilla on the summer insert. It was very fresh and tasty. Overall we had good service and good food.
Great place!!. Love this place, can’t say enough. Nice dcor and awesome food. It’s open kitchen and I’ve noticed the cooks have all been there for a very long time.
Where’s the Bee… I mean Chicken. This is the El Chico at Promenade Mall to which I am referring. I ordered the ‘Old Fashioned Crispy Tacos’, with Chicken. First it took longer than you would expect. Second the ‘Crispy’ part was a puff pastry shell that was already soggy when it got to me and one couldn’t pick it up as it fell apart. So, I used my fork to scrap out the filling. There was a single lump of of Chicken about the size of a small cherry tomato. In fact there was very little of any filling and the same thing turned out to be true of the second Taco as well.My companion complained and the server did comp the 7.95 or 8.95. See, here’s the thing, maybe one Taco might have gotten shorted on something. I don’t think that was the case, I think this is a kitchen policy. Stop and think about it some lettuce, tomato bits, a smear (literally) of sour cream and just enough chicken to show there is chicken inside and 8 or 9 bucks.I won’t say don’t go to El Chico, but I will say don’t order the Old Fashioned Chicken Tacos, unless you specifically don’t want Chicken.
Chips hand cut and made fresh daily, as well as salsa, made in house with Everything cut fresh. Sopapillas are to die for. Doe rolled and made to order. (Never pre-made) fajita and chicken is marinated and grilled to order. Guac is made fresh (so yummy!) pretty legit for a corporate place. *ask for corn tortillas with relish (complimentary if your hip to t) also ask for REAL BUTTER opposed to margarine. they also have a spicier salsa available upon request. Oh and if its your first time to el chico or your birthday a free sopapilla is available. new mango ginger chicken breast is AMAZING. Ask to add cilantro. That, the fajitas, and carnitas tacos are my favorites. Quest is also made fresh, never bagged or pre-made. All and all I love el chico. Ask for Danielle, Monica, Chloe, Jose, or Carlos! They are some of the best. -former el chico employee
Terrible food terrible service. The reason people seem to rave about this place is probably the fact that it is one tiny step up from taco bueno. I had to ask the waitress 3 TIMES for tortillas and gauc AFTER she brought out my fajitas. The fajitas themselves were nothing special- gross, canned spinach and mushrooms, for one. I’ll be sticking to authentic, fresh places like El Rio Verde.
Worthy. This wouldn’t be my first choice, but it has good Tex-Mex food.
Oh my. The food was ok but they held onto $69 for 2 tabs that weren’t even mine for 4 days as of today. they are pen-ding transactions and haven’t even called my bank to clear it up. I have contacted them everyday since and won’t even call me back, I have to call them (as if it was my fault). They only told me of one of the transactions when i was there, not to mention my ticket was only $22, thank God for banking online!! Ijust hope they do whatever to free up my money!!! I have talked to 3 managers, GOD HELP THEM!!!
