Nelson’s has the best chicken fried steak/chicken in town for lunch. They have healthier choices if you don’t want anything fried, too. The staff is also quite friendly.
I’m going all out with this 5 star raining! Nelson’s is, hands down, the best comfort food in Tulsa. Their chicken fried steak is the best I’ve ever had and their mashed potatoes, green beans, mac and cheese and rolls are all amazing!! I would eat this every day if I knew it wouldn’t cause me to have a heart attack! If your looking for a good chicken fry then look no further!!’
Finally made it to to Nelson’s off Memorial. Last time I was here it was on Boston Ave many many years ago. The Memorial location is pretty much as I remember except the parking is better (not much). You go to the counter and order, had to go with the chicken fry with potatoes and green beans. Wife had the chicken fry chicken sandwich with mac n cheese. Both were excellent along with the very good gravy. Potatoes were a little runny for my preference but were still tasty. Mac-n-cheese was very good and made with real cheddar cheese. This is a place where you check your calorie counter at the door. Service is good and the deserts (pies) are very good also.

I got a to go order wish I was able to eat in but it’s okay I’m a sides kinda girl so I was having a tough time picking but they were very nice and let me tAste some of the items went with the best cabbage real southern taste not spicy and the Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes was good also next time I’m trying the green beans and for it being to go It was a good portion I was stuffed the chicken fried steak was good as well I would have liked the breading more seasoned but overall meal was great and next time I’m sure going to get some of the pie
The Best!. I took my teenage daughter to Nelson’s over fall break this past week. My husband met us there on his lunch break. He drove all the way from Owasso to eat with us since we were eating here. This is by far some of the best southern food you will ever eat and everyone there is so so friendly. My daughter, who is not a foodie type person at all, loved everything she ordered. It was also her first time to try coconut cream pie…she loved it. Thanks so much for making us happy!!!
Visiting from California and had to have lunch at Nelsons. Oh my gawd! Chicken fried chicken is fantastic! Then there’s the coconut cream pie.. Heaven!
