Of all breakfasts, utappam is a good choice. The paneer butter masala was too sweet for my palate. You have a TV which plays old songs. A good place to hangout and enjoy some Indian food.Taste : 6Ambience : 8Value for money : 7 Overall :8
Its a great place to have Indian food specially south indian. They have nice chapati’s which we all look forward to eat in USA. Also, you dont get ala carte in lunch. You have buffet. Love their panner kadhai and dal makhani. Its crowded during weekdays afternoon.
Many of my Indian friends have told me that Chennai is the most authentic Indian Restaurant in the Portland area which is why I tried it. I really enjoyed the dinner and thought the spices were different in a positive way. We started the meal with Lamb Kheema Dosa with several sauces. People at every table were ordering some type of Dosa. It was tasty and a fun dish to share. The Onion Kulcha was amazing and it went will with the Mughai Korma. This korma was different because it was very creamy and smooth with cardamom. The Baingan Bharta (eggplant) which is one of my favorite dishes was excellent. The menu was packed with vegetarian options. They also had several Indian beers, so I enjoyed a Kingfisher. The service was also excellent.
Well, this place has one thing that I’d be going back for. Their mutton biryani. Oh hold on to that thought, umm, I am not going back. There was no lamb in the biryani at all. Not even the small pieces that you accidentally get at the other joints. What a shame for such a good tasting biryani.As a Tamilian I was annoyed by their poor choice of music videos; obscene and bad third grade pop music. We make better art people, not that garbage.
It is the worst restaurant in the whole wide world !! I mean the food is okay.. But the owner and staff ? They don’t even treat you like customers !! The owner is always watching to see how much food you get & kicks you out if your eating breakfast and let’s time for lunch ! They are super rude. Plus they have a lot of immigrants working there. I believe that restaurant should be shut down !!
Beware of the Curry Nazi!!!. To sum it up… Decent food with pathetic service. The service and attitude of the staff & owner kill the place. If you ever have been to their lunch buffet you will notice the Curry Nazi (owner), staring you down and watching how much food you take on your plate. I witnessed her yell at someone and tell them to only take the number of naan they can eat.Stay away! There are much better options out there.
