Yes and Yes…. Vegetarian friendly they use lots of cheese but also use lots of spices so just ask and Vegan delicious it is. Actually cheese is an over kill on the dishes I sampled from friends plates. They try for local I wish they would list organic dishes. Our waitperson had only worked there for two days and she was phenomenal! Wine list had local wine made in an earth friendly way. I have not tried their pizza as of yet. Maybe they will make me a no cheese pizza. One can hope the chef is up to it??

The food was good as always tonight, but the service was horrendous. We were the only people in there at first (except the owners(?) who seemed to have taken the night off). Our table was dirty, no silverware, and we had to beg the server to tell us the specials. Finally my other-half orders a glass of wine and he brings us both a glass each and leaves to never return. Nevermind that I didn’t order wine or necessarily want wine, it was the smallest glass of wine ever. When he never returned and our wine glasses sat empty through the entire meal, the irony was apparent. It wouldn’t have been quite so bothersome had the owners not been shmoozing some friends right next to us without lending a hand. Disappointed!12 Jun, 2012Wow, fresh, yummy, amazing. Not to be cheesy but this truly is a hidden gem. We were taken here on a wine tour and blown away by the food, and the ambience. If only we could get a yummy, fresh, sustainability minded, local restaurant like this where I live. The food appeared to be seasonal (our salad had edible flowers). The pizza phenomenal. I can’t wait to go back!

This is the best food I have had in a long time. The meals are inspired, romantic and delicious. We had a beet salad, pork tacos and a chocolate caramel tart. To die for!!!

Artisan Pizza!. I am happy I finally had a chance to try The Blue Goat! Although I must admitt I saw no blue goats on the premiss… We arrived shortly after 5 and we were just on the heals of a wine tasting event. The bartender took note of us right away and got a host right to us amidst the slight chaos. We were literally seated all the way in back and from here we could observe most of the goings on. Menus and waters were brought promtly. My gf wasn’t in the mood for picking but I suggested the Pork Pizza with added bacon and she agreed. She had the water but I ordered a Whistling Pig Hefeweizen to accompany my slice. We sat and talked. I was somewhat amazed how loud it actually was all the way in back. There were still a lot of folks standing around up front drinking wine. Our pizza was out before long and we were suprised it wasn’t round! Instead it was long and narrow sliced into 6 pieces perfect for sharing. It was small by any pizza standard but oh my was it tasty. The red sauce was sweet and tangy. We both agreed there was an elusive spice in the mix we couldn’t pin down. The toppings were fresh but slightly sparse. A few more olives would have been welcome. I agree with Chuck it IS eclectic but it does work. The tall ceilings, bricks and green walls do well to house the large wood fired oven. This is well on the way to being a destination restaurant! I am eager to come back and try this ever changing menu.

The empanada I had was amazing! I also loved the bread, which they make in house using their fire oven. I cant wait to try other things and since they change their menu often, there will always be new options. Its totally worth the drive if you are not near Amity!!

Sixty well spent miles………… And $10 worth of gas proved a worthwhile investment. The Blue Goat was a treat on several levels. The first thing you notice upon entering is the huge Cob oven. At first glance it appears to be a seven foot in diameter Terra Cotta dome, but it’s molded of the same material (basically mud and straw) used in centuries old dwellings in Europe and the UK. Fascinated, I inspected it more closely. I put my hand on the outer surface (although a substantial fire was evident inside) I found it to be as cool as the ambient temperature in the room. The dcor is an eclectic mix of mismatched furniture; Myrtle wood tabletops and chairs from a bygone schoolroom created a hodge-podge that somehow works. The BG has a decent wine selection and a dozen or so craft beers on tap.Carol had a nice green tea and I opted for the local version of dihydrogen monoxide. Their menu changes daily and can be seen on-line. We each ordered Winter Stew which consisted of Shredded Beef, Pinto Beans and Greens topped with Parsley and Sweet Red Pepper Esplette. The broth was almost Gravy-like in consistency and was either cooked down to concentrate the beefiness or spiked with Bullion. Either way it was sensational. It was served with baked-in-house artisan Bread and Butter. We split a Pulled Pork Sandwich. It was not BBQed but simmered with Apple Butter and served on a hand crafted Roll with a Honey BBQ sauce which was nuanced with Cinnamon and Winter Slaw on the side. We also had a Ground Beef Empanada. A Pastry pocket filled with aged Jersey Beef, boiled Egg, Currants and green Olives. It was served with sweet Chili Salsa. All was excellent, but we really should have split one of the Winter Stews because we really had too much food for two.Our server, Sharmin, did an exemplary job. She was attentive and suffered graciously through my questions, but gave us room for quiet conversation. The coat hook and instant hot water in the men’s room were small but appreciated details. They do not accept reservations for parties of less than six. GRRRR!The tiny hamlet of Amity is little more than a wide spot on HWY 99W not very close to anything, but we found the BG well worth the drive.
